Why don't they just drill a deep hole through earth to exploit the internal heat to warm up water and run a steam turbine???

there is a company in australia was doing it. havent heard much since then. probably just yet another get rich quick scheme to use people to buy shares on the stock market.

And giant steam turbines on the ocean that use giant lenses and mirrors to focus the suns rays into heat/steam

Actually these methods already exist, first they drill then pump water down into the holes, water gets heated and the resulting steam is captured by turbines...it was called geo energy or something like that, heralded as a "next gen energy technology"

i know they do. but australian companies list on the stock market, the sheep give them their money, then they file for bankruptcy and move overseas with millions and lamborghinis.

They have done it where the thermal heat is pretty high in the crust.

The problem with it is that the steam isn't as powerful as one would find in say a coal boiler. Its not as hot.

As for drilling deep to hit sufficiently hot water/steam - most places you would have to drill deeper than we have ever drilled before.


The Geothermal taps in California report more minor earthquakes with 'drilling' of the steam fields - I would suspect that drilling deep enough to relieve pressure deeper would have a similar effect - cause quakes.

Hello, in sweden most houses use this kind of tech to heat up the water etc, and it keeps the house warm.
We even have that where i live.
but yah do some google searches (geothermal heating).
