not me User ID: 1137629 United States 10/15/2012 12:39 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The last good cop I had contact with was in the 80's. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 875736 Last thing I'll do since about '92 is call a cop. They are as likely to arrest a victim as a perp, they taze people, beat them up, even if there are injuries from an auto accident. I'll never forget the kid who had fallen off an overpass, a teenage boy, white kid too, and cops mangled him trying to get him to respond till he was a paraplegic, tried to arrest him for drunk and disorderly. Couple of cops in NYC found a guy in the river, and towed him by his feet with the boat till he drowned. They sit people in restraint chairs for up to 36 hours, no breaks to piss or shit, force them to sit in what they have to do, then let them up after blood clots have formed in hips, and blood clots move to hearts and kill. Fuckers are dumber than rocks. Meaner than rottwiellers. They think everyone is a criminal and the public is guilty till they pay an attorney enough to prove otherwise. They act the worst when their girl cops are around. They are militarized now. I see no difference between cops and storm troopers of Germany circa 1939. Sad thing is, this commentary is actually very light. You forgot to mention that the kid who went over the rail was only guilty of walking home drunk, which is legal. The reason he fell over is because the cops tazed him in the first place. |

The police have become terrorists imo, they only scare people. Pussy. There is a difference between wisdom and fear. Acknowledging police corruption, and respecting it enough to steer clear is wisdom. btw... why did quote the previous poster and then just sign your name without any comment? |

Desert Fox User ID: 8786935 United States 10/15/2012 12:44 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Years ago, yes, but not anymore, for the most part. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 21082647 Most of the local cops are friendly, kind, and reasonable. However, some of the state cops are egomaniacs and enjoy harassing people. For example: My husband works night shift, and leaves work at 1:30am on Fridays. Granted, that's when a lot of people are coming home from bars, so it's understandable that there are more cops out at that time. They had a roadblock set up one morning. No problem. DH showed them his license, insurance, and registration. He had his seat belt on. He hadn't been speeding or drinking. The cop asked where he'd been, and where he was going. DH explained that he works night shift, had just gotten off work, and was headed home. The cop apparently didn't believe him, and carried DH's license and papers over to another cop. The second cop came up, and started implying that DH was lying about his work hours. (!!!) DH patiently explained again that he works night shift, that he just left work, and was on his way home. After much discussion between themselves (??), the cops finally told DH he could go. For some reason, they "forgot" to give him back his license and papers, and DH had to ask for them back. They reluctantly returned them. I should mention that DH is the respectful "yes, sir", "no, sir" type when dealing with cops, so it wasn't like he had a bad attitude or anything. He also has a squeaky clean, totally spotless record. A few days later, there was another roadblock. Same scenario. Same cops. They again checked DH with a fine-tooth comb. Finally they tried to tell him his window tint was too dark. (I guess they can magically determine that at 2am in the morning??) Now, this was the same truck DH has been driving in this area for 11+ years, and not a word had ever been said to him. I guess "window tint" is the best thing they could come up with. They gave him a warning. DH removed the window tint. They continued to stop him and interrogate him for several weeks after that ... not just via roadblocks, but by actually singling him out and pulling him over. It became pretty obvious that they were waiting on him to come through after work, and were trying their best to catch him doing something wrong. They acted angry and rude that they couldn't find anything. DH still has no idea why he was being harassed. DH was so frustrated that he actually considered painting his truck a different color, just to try to get them off his back. He thought about filing a complaint, but was afraid it would only make matters worse. The problem resolved itself when the truck was damaged in a hailstorm. The insurance company decided it wasn't worth fixing, and DH bought another truck with the settlement money. He hasn't been stopped since. (knock on wood) This is more common than most think. If they stop you once, they will never give up. It is like the are pissed that they didn't get to write a ticket. :TOMABANEFOX: It's more humane this way ya know, or burn on totem pole.
