Nuclear exchange even on a global scale is by far not that big threat it was made to be.

And on small scale it is even less of a problem.

It depends on how many missles are used. It depends on where they strike. It depends upon if they are EMP high altitude or genuine nuclear weapons.

Yes, everything could be annihilated.

Yes, several could create a Nuclear Winter and slow eventual death due to an inability to grow things due to isotopes being in everything and concentrating in plant and animal life.

Those are extreme scenarios.

Looking at Fukushima, which is turning out to be a lot like Chernobyl, we're seeing thyroid nodules and very high levels of isotopes not only in the region, but also carried in the wind and water. In the long term, I'd expect to see high cancer rates, higher infant mortality, mutations, just like the people of Belarus:


Life finds a way of going on. Many species have adapted, though it's still in general deadly to live at ground zero for humans. Realize that lower life forms have many procreate in shorter gestations and have many more generations of offspring. Eventually some of the survivors adapt to the conditions, or they are not hunted and increase in number, or whatever.

I don't prep to deal with nuclear war, I prep because of the much more likely scenarios that might occur like Hurricane Sandy. You should too, since those kinds of situations are statistically much more possible.

Watching films are about looking at an artform and then it causing a ressonance within you. It's to make you think. If you're one of the sheep, then it's a cathartic ride of drama intended to placate you. Those people who enjoy say action films put themselves in the role of the hero and imagine themselves winning and resolving issues on a hero's journey. Instead why not use the film as a springboard to thinking about the larger issues?

Learn some old skills, buy supplies, and try to become a fully realized human being in a healthy way. That's real prepping.
