No, there is no "base belief" behind that which Jesus spoke about. In fact it is the exact opposite, the discarding of all beliefs and thoughts, to discover the truth.

I find it odd (not really  ) that you can quote verses that support - nothing - regarding the base premise of this thread, and ignore verses that tell the story as it was believed - that the "event" was supposed to have happened 2000 years ago. That's called ignoring the context, and ignoring the left hemisphere of the neocortex.
