Every light bulb that was on in my house just blew. | |

Must have been a surge of some kind I guess. The TV microwave, stove and all the other latent power sucking devices I have where fine though. It was just the light bulbs and only the ones that were on. Yes - a little unsettling. And no, it has never happened before. DOOM? Well no. Just creepy and I thought I'd share. — read for knowledge, not answers. |

No surge, actually light bulbs are more resilient to electric surges, than other electric appliances. |

But I replaced the old ones with the compact florescent bulbs. And actually now that I think about it, there are only four more incandescent bulbs left in the house. Hmmm. I wondered if maybe the lamps and ceiling fan were on the same breaker - they're not. Also, the ceiling fan kept going, just the light bulbs all pooched out. Weird. But I feel confident in saying that it has nothing to do with the sinkhole, aliens, or WW3. — read for knowledge, not answers. |

| Anonymous Coward User ID: 23598650 10/14/2012 10:51 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | How weird is that? Quoting: amachiavellian Computer is fine, so is the television, but the bulbs in the two lamps and a ceiling fan all crapped out at the same time. I replaced the all the bulbs (6 altogether) and everything works fine again, but creepy as heck on a dark rainy night alone in the country. Same thing for me, although only 3 bulbs. I have noticed that when the solar storms happen, the smoke detectors will chirp. That began yesterday. We were supposed to be experiencing a heavy solar storm yesterday and today. A friend told me about seeing the "northern lights" in Michigan. Anyway, the smoke detector that was chirping was right by the ceiling fan/lights that went out. The chirping stopped as it always seems to do. I also had a clock go berserk and it was doing things that clock should not have done, like displaying numbers that had no possible time sequence. I finally took the batteries out and left them out for a while. I replaced them, and the clock was fine. I have had the clock for years and it had never malfunctioned like it did. I am chalking it up to the solar storms. [link to www.spaceweather.com] |
