I was a personal assistant to a major star
I left last week after 7 years. I'm thinking of writing a book about everything but am sort of afraid to reveal who it is and the things they did. Some VERY sketchy things but it's a pretty damn powerful person with even more powerful "friends." So what does GLP think? Should I write about what I witnessed? Should I reveal who I worked for? Is it legal if I do? What does GLP think?

We honestly don't care unless you share some details. You don't have to name names, we just want anonymous details.

Tell us a couple of stories, but don't name names.

Writing a book could make you some good money, but then you will have to use all the proceeds to hire a lawyer to fight the lawsuit that will inevitably follow.

You might just want to make a quick buck and call star magazine. That way you could stay anonymous and Star takes the heat.

I think if I were you I would seek legal advice from someone first. Find out where you stand. You can ask a lawyer what if questions all day.
All this has happened before, and will happen again.

Write it out in full so that your recollection will be preserved. Then later on take incidents and write short stories based on them, to reveal some of the things, without placing yourself in direct danger.

Re: I was a personal assistant to a major star
Turn it into a screenplay.

Figure out the 'angle' you want to focus on, such as a composite morality lesson of personality vs. quantified reality.

Were people hurt, or, made to suffer in this landscape? If so, what were the actions which caused such things? Think about those recurring actions which lead up to them.

Was your employer a 'middleman' in all of this, meaning, in his/her fame, was 'he' somewhat of a pawn for more powerful people? Did he ever have to do something against his better judgement to keep up appearances or sell his product?

If so, do you think that those more powerful players actually WERE his friends, or, simply use him as a meal-ticket, a vehicle for making others rich?

Did your employer suffer from anguish, perhaps in feeling that he had to sell some of his soul for the privlege of fame?

Make a list of such things, then focus on what you think THE message could be, and, how the story might end.

A never ending cycle of...

The shadow of emptiness that forever lingers in dark corners, unseen.

Good luck!cool2

Write it all down, make multiple copies and put them all in different places for safe keeping. This is to protect you.

I would not write a book about it. keep low on their radar. If something happens to you then make sure one person has a copy with instructions to open and read and to send it to a whistle blower that you trust. Not the main stream media.

You ARE aware that very powerful and very wealthy ppl have a way of making problem people in their life disappear!!! How much do you love your family? Your friends? ....Im glad your traitorous self didn't work for me!!!
So your saying you were an asst. To a very powerful, very wealthy celeb and they didn't have you sign a confidentially clause? I find that a little hard to believe. Ahhhh yes. Vanity.

I feel bad that you got so many smartass replies, OP....

By all means, DO write it all down, as much detail as you can recall.........

Perhaps you could consult a lawyer to see how much you could be sued for, if it was ever published.

or, as someone else said, go to one of the scandal sheets....they'd pay very well, and I'm sure your name'd be kept out it.

OR you could write it all out, and -have you made your will yer?? - add something to your will to have it published after your death.

I'm winging it here, of course, but I wanted you to know that there's at least ONE soul on here who is interested!!

I'd ask all my family and friends, and get some legal counsul, also...

Should be quite an interesting trip for you!!!!

Good luck..........

spill some beans.

Otherwise, if as started, you worked for someone powerful, you then must have signed a contract. That being the case, it surely must stipulate in said contract that you CANNOT write about anything you have seen?

Elaborate here, or suffer silly responses until you PROVE you have merit...
