Anonymous Coward User ID: 25694743 United Kingdom 10/16/2012 08:10 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Yep, there is 2 listed on RSOE, HOWEVER, After RSOE received the first EQ report, USGS had the EQ at 4.5.... 5 Mins later, USGS upgraded it to a 4.6... Basically, RSOE don't delete the previous report that is replaced by the new one..... So that's why he sees 2 quakes on there..... It was Just ONE.... Sorry, link: [link to hisz.rsoe.hu] |

The USGS had said it was due to the rock structure of the east cost. Sorry for thoose of you that have not felt Quakes before, out here in the West we are used to them, and yes it can be scary.....Hold on tight. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 21352176 United States 10/16/2012 08:11 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The geology can affect it. We had a 4.5 in Arkansas a couple of years ago and almost the entire state felt it. Out in California the same quake wouldn't be felt even half as far away. Quoting: Erectus this again? really? CA has diverse geology as does the east coast. no area is all or none. the east coast tends to exaggerate more due to not feeling quakes as often though |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 55360 United States 10/16/2012 08:21 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | This is due to the bedrock effect...NE sits upon rock. The tremors reverberate out further on the North East Coast. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 19676829 Yeah, I'm in RI now... lived in Indiana before... both places, you feel smaller [or, what is generally referred to as smaller compared to most quake sizes you need to get a good feel of one]...quakes over a more widespread area. Just imagine what a bigger one would do... scary thought eh? |
