Re: Unhappy? Are You Ready to Feel Great?!! The Mood Cure: Amino Acids and Their Incredible Impact on Moods
If anyone here has trouble with down, irritable or negative moods, you MUST get this book (I'm not associated with it in ANY way).

I've known I've had low levels of neurotransmitters that control moods (basically my entire life) and it has been really rough at times. And I mean REALLY rough, to the point of not wanting to be here anymore.

It's also been really hard on relationships because I could be hell on wheels, even when there was little to nothing to be upset about. Now, I'm 99% rock-solid, balanced and feel "normal" like anyone would if they had adequate levels of essential neurotransmitter "building blocks." No more extreme highs or extreme lows. Just nice and balanced in the middle, feeling peaceful, cheerful and able to work with ease.

Getting on 5-HTP, tyrosine and DL-phenylalanine has been a God-send. Some will find greater results from tryptophan than 5-HTP -- both are precursors to serotonin, and boost serotonin levels significantly!

I'm feeling really, really good, balanced and normal. GABA is also good for those who are stressed out an unable to relax. Personally, it relaxes me to where I feel like I just smoked a joint, so I only take that at night and on rare occasions. It literally IS a chill pill!

"The Mood Cure" book: [link to www.amazon.com]
 Quoting: Present and Aware

I usually order Dr's Best Tryptophan from vitacost. It always worked very well for me, and I'm hesitant in just going with some other brand without knowing if I will get the same benefit. They are currently out of stock on Dr's Best Tryptophan! What brand do you use or suggest ... that is, if you've had experience with Tryptophan! Thanks!

Re: Unhappy? Are You Ready to Feel Great?!! The Mood Cure: Amino Acids and Their Incredible Impact on Moods
OP, thank you for this info! I bought the book right away. Just a little about me: 36 yr old female, past drug addict, depression, social anxiety disorder, low energy, fogginess, no sex drive. I've been taking adderall just to get things done (bad I know, but haven't taken it in a week and don't want to anymore).

I've always taken a multivitamin, probiotics and various cleansing herbs. Been taking the 5-htp, vitamin C, and fish oil for only three days now and I cannot believe how much better I feel. The l-tyrosine makes me a bit tired, but I'm going to stick with it. My anxiety has decreased considerably. It was getting to the point that I would avoid grocery shopping or social situations with friends I've known for years. I feel an inner peace for the first time. I no longer entertain negative thoughts that send me into a downward spiral of hopelessness. I go about my business with energy and positivity. My libido is back. I woke my man up at 2am for sex last night. I cannot wait to see what changes the coming weeks will bring. Thank you!hf

Hey OP I bought this book and had a read really awesome. I then traced the 4 amino acids which elevate your mood by producing serotonin and found them in this compound -

[link to www.red23.co.uk]

So I purchased some and I have to say IT WORKS! This stuff makes you happy no doubt about it :)

Thanks OP!

That's fantastic! I can relate. Aminos are amazing. Huge difference overall in my moods.

Oh wow, this is so perfect for you. With past drug use, you almost certainly messed up your body's ability to produce dopamine. I believe aminos can, and it looks like are, helping to restore that for you.

Strange the L-Tyrosine makes you tired. Usually it'll give you a boost. You don't mean L-Tryptophan do you? That can make you sleepy.

Just remember to take the 5-HTP away from high-protein meals and away from the L-Tyrosine and DLPA (DL-Phenylalanine) as those can reduce the effectiveness of 5-HTP (and L-Tryptophan).

Yes, can really decrease anxiety. If kids and adults were on aminos instead of these SSRIs and other psychotropics, I don't think we'd be seeing all these shootings. They just would not be happening.

I am so happy to read your positive report. I've been on them about 6 months and my life is so much smoother, so I can totally relate with what you're sharing here. Keep updating me on how you're doing with these. What an terrific report.

Glad it works for you. I prefer individual aminos, and then take an egg white powder to get the other aminos.

I buy my individual aminos as inexpensively as possible through [link to vitacost.com,] but shipping to UK may be expensive, so maybe red23.co.uk is a better bet for you.

Don't forget Omega 3's. I suffered from bouts of depression for nearly 40 years of my life until I started taking Omega 3's. It helped a lot and I later started a mild dose of Zoloft which has helped also, but Omega 3's were the best.

I've suspected it's always had something to due with hormones or neurochemicals.

Abso-friggin-lutely!

I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Budwig's book Flax Oil As a True Aid Against Arthritis Heart Infarction Cancer and Other Diseases!

You can get it on Amazon here: [link to www.amazon.com]

This stuff (The Budwig Protocol) deserves it's own thread. It's utterly amazing and life-transforming. It gives us the ability to absorb photonic energy from the sun again within just three days (we lost the ability due to bad fats/oils).

Definitely do! And let me know how you make out.

To me, it's been a lifesaver. It would have saved me years of unnecessary suffering if I'd known about this early on.

Absolutely GET THE BOOK and do what it says. It will help you. The aminos by themselves are great, but the simple dietary suggestions (a few things to avoid and a few things to get more of) are extremely valuable as well. I really notice the difference, both positively and negatively when I eat those good mood and bad mood foods, respectively.

I *rarely* (and I really do mean rarely) log in, but just had to do so to thank the OP personally for the book recommendation! I've been trying to piece the amino info together myself, and it's nice to know that someone has compiled it all into a book, all in one place for easy reference.

Also, I had not heard of pyroluria before, but it firs my boyfriend to a tee, and he has had no success getting help from allopathic medicine with his issues. So, we'll be looking into getting him tested and going from there.

Sincere and heartfelt thanks, OP. I stumbled upon your thread at exactly the right time for me, couldn't be happier for the info!

That's awesome. Thanks for coming back to share your experience.

Yeah, I need to get tested for that myself. I fit most of the symptoms as well. I have a feeling that's going to be fantastic for me to know and treat with the B6 and Zinc, I believe it was.

Let me know if your bf tests +/- for it. I think the test is about $150 which is nothing if it turns out to be the case and it's easily treatable. Seems like a total life-changer if one can overcome the symptoms of that.

Have a great day!

I read the book, on the advice of clifffffff the webbbbbot guy and I must say that the Phenylalanine worked for me as well as the GABA.

Buying another bottle of GABA. Never slept so well or woke up feeling so rested that I can remember in my life!

Cool! That's awesome.

Yeah, the GABA is very relaxing. I rarely take that as I don't tend to get stressed out or have trouble sleeping. But, I do take DLPA and L-Tyrosine every morning when I wake up and they give me a nice boost and keep my mood/energy nice and level.

Thanks for sharing your experience.

If you want to get some basics on nootropics that boost brain function and mood, this brief guide just put out by Mark Joyner might be helpful: [link to stream.simpleology.com]

It's a bit edgy and could be dangerous, but he grounds it well with some warnings. This is definitely NOT recommended if you're on SSRIs or MAO inhibitors. To be safe, check with a doctor first. This is a bleeding edge science along the lines of the "limitless pill" from the movie Limitless.

I don't know if it requires an account to view it, as I'm already logged in, but his stuff tends to be good and his Simpleology is something I've used for years and is well worth setting up a free account for ( [link to simpleology.com).]

Or, perhaps you're a paid shill for big pharma steering people away from safer alternatives to psychotropic drugs so they can continue to profit on mental illness and suffering.

If anyone reads up on amino acids, they'll see that in the proper dosage (you wouldn't consume 15 glasses of water in one sitting and expect it to be healthy for you, would you?), and used correctly (read "Mood Cure" book to learn more), amino acids are both safe and effective in the majority of cases.

You CANNOT get enough aminos from food once your levels are seriously depleted as they are for many, many people. But, once you "get up to level" you can stop them. If you're telling the truth (which I'm doubtful) and are not a shill or hypochondriac who self-diagnoses, then you probably either had the damage already, took too high of a dosage, or stayed on them long past the point where your levels were solid (you can tell you're "leveled up" as you will forget to take them, no longer feel you need them, and may get mild headaches after taking them.

In any event, that was an empty hit-and-run post with zero explanation or credibility. I would delete your post, but I'll give you a chance to provide further details.

So, let's hear details. What were you on? How much did you take? What was the strength? How often did you take it? How long did you take it? How do you know you have heart/liver damage? How do you know it was the aminos that caused this?

If you fail to answer these questions, your post will be deleted as it does not add to the discussion.

Re: Unhappy? Are You Ready to Feel Great?!! The Mood Cure: Amino Acids and Their Incredible Impact on Moods
My Amino Update:

I rarely take 5-HTP any more. No need for it. My depression is gone 100%. Anxiety is dramatically reduced by 95%. It only shows up if I eat too much wheat, dairy and/or sugar. Those mess me up still. Otherwise, I'm 100% solid there, too.

I still take L-Tyrosine in the early a.m. for an energy boost. I take two 750 mg capsules from Vitacost. I was on one and didn't notice much. I bumped it to two and feel GREAT. Max dosage on this in the Mood Cure book is 2,000 mg.

I occasionally take DL-Phenalalanine. I only take it if I feel my endorphin levels are low. For the most part, they're great, so little need for those now either.

I very rarely pop a GABA as I'm rarely stressed out/uptight. If I take one, it will be at night so I can settle into a peaceful night's rest.

No side effects whatsoever. I am simply leveled out emotionally in a very dramatic way.

I still HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommend the book "The Mood Cure" by Julia Ross, MS. That book has been a true lifesaver for me. I am not associated with her in any way (don't even know her). Just love her book and know it is literally saving and restoring lives.

Re: Unhappy? Are You Ready to Feel Great?!! The Mood Cure: Amino Acids and Their Incredible Impact on Moods
Hi everyone!

I heard about Julia Ross when I was googling to find the a way for my food addiction, depression. I popped upon this video:
[link to www.youtube.com]
Where Julia is explaining the supplementation need to fight this problem.
I haven't read her book because I can't effort right now to buy a book. I live in Ukraine right now. I used to live in USA for two years.
Friend of mine is self researcher on many medical issues and he recommended to take tyrosine and GABA but we decided to try Holy Basil instead of GABA. I am going to start next week.
But when I saw the video I mentioned above I thought I have not just serotonin problems but also on dopamine level.
I am food addictive since 2010 in more severe level. All this time I am struggling with the same cycle. I am finding comfort zone with food like chocolate, basically all sweets, pastries, gluten food, cheese. I would say I am also compulsive overeater. I have low self esteem, I feel very worthless, I do have suicidal thoughts, I can't motivate myself. From 2010 I struggle with my weight. I am not that overweight but for me it is the top of me!!!! Plus I was vegetarian for three years, actually long time I was vegan what made my condition even worst.
I am trying to find the way out... I want to live life and enjoy life, face problems and be able to resolve them instead of reaching for a chocolate bar.
It seems I have misbalance on all levels of neurotransmitters.
If you have any to suggest to me I would appreciate this. Thank you

Re: Unhappy? Are You Ready to Feel Great?!! The Mood Cure: Amino Acids and Their Incredible Impact on Moods
How long it took you to get those results?
And from what are recovering?

Amino acids = protein

Protein = MEAT

Go get yourselves a bunch of grassfed, hormone free steaks. Cook them rare and have one every day.

Tryptophan = Turkey is high in tryptophan

Go get yourselves a pasture raised turkey. Slow roast it at 150 overnight.

Real Food. The cure for most anything.
