The Mood Cure: Amino Acids and Their Incredible Impact on Moods If anyone here has trouble with down, irritable or negative moods, you MUST get this book (I'm not associated with it in ANY way). Quoting: Present and Aware I've known I've had low levels of neurotransmitters that control moods (basically my entire life) and it has been really rough at times. And I mean REALLY rough, to the point of not wanting to be here anymore. It's also been really hard on relationships because I could be hell on wheels, even when there was little to nothing to be upset about. Now, I'm 99% rock-solid, balanced and feel "normal" like anyone would if they had adequate levels of essential neurotransmitter "building blocks." No more extreme highs or extreme lows. Just nice and balanced in the middle, feeling peaceful, cheerful and able to work with ease. Getting on 5-HTP, tyrosine and DL-phenylalanine has been a God-send. Some will find greater results from tryptophan than 5-HTP -- both are precursors to serotonin, and boost serotonin levels significantly! I'm feeling really, really good, balanced and normal. GABA is also good for those who are stressed out an unable to relax. Personally, it relaxes me to where I feel like I just smoked a joint, so I only take that at night and on rare occasions. It literally IS a chill pill! "The Mood Cure" book: [link to www.amazon.com] I usually order Dr's Best Tryptophan from vitacost. It always worked very well for me, and I'm hesitant in just going with some other brand without knowing if I will get the same benefit. They are currently out of stock on Dr's Best Tryptophan! What brand do you use or suggest ... that is, if you've had experience with Tryptophan! Thanks! |

The Mood Cure: Amino Acids and Their Incredible Impact on Moods OP, thank you for this info! I bought the book right away. Just a little about me: 36 yr old female, past drug addict, depression, social anxiety disorder, low energy, fogginess, no sex drive. I've been taking adderall just to get things done (bad I know, but haven't taken it in a week and don't want to anymore). I've always taken a multivitamin, probiotics and various cleansing herbs. Been taking the 5-htp, vitamin C, and fish oil for only three days now and I cannot believe how much better I feel. The l-tyrosine makes me a bit tired, but I'm going to stick with it. My anxiety has decreased considerably. It was getting to the point that I would avoid grocery shopping or social situations with friends I've known for years. I feel an inner peace for the first time. I no longer entertain negative thoughts that send me into a downward spiral of hopelessness. I go about my business with energy and positivity. My libido is back. I woke my man up at 2am for sex last night. I cannot wait to see what changes the coming weeks will bring. Thank you! |

I then traced the 4 amino acids which elevate your mood by producing serotonin and found them in this compound - [link to www.red23.co.uk] So I purchased some and I have to say IT WORKS! This stuff makes you happy no doubt about it :) Thanks OP! |

My libido is back. I woke my man up at 2am for sex last night. I cannot wait to see what changes the coming weeks will bring. Thank you! Oh wow, this is so perfect for you. With past drug use, you almost certainly messed up your body's ability to produce dopamine. I believe aminos can, and it looks like are, helping to restore that for you. Strange the L-Tyrosine makes you tired. Usually it'll give you a boost. You don't mean L-Tryptophan do you? That can make you sleepy. Just remember to take the 5-HTP away from high-protein meals and away from the L-Tyrosine and DLPA (DL-Phenylalanine) as those can reduce the effectiveness of 5-HTP (and L-Tryptophan). Yes, can really decrease anxiety. If kids and adults were on aminos instead of these SSRIs and other psychotropics, I don't think we'd be seeing all these shootings. They just would not be happening. I am so happy to read your positive report. I've been on them about 6 months and my life is so much smoother, so I can totally relate with what you're sharing here. Keep updating me on how you're doing with these. What an terrific report. I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Budwig's book Flax Oil As a True Aid Against Arthritis Heart Infarction Cancer and Other Diseases! You can get it on Amazon here: [link to www.amazon.com] This stuff (The Budwig Protocol) deserves it's own thread. It's utterly amazing and life-transforming. The Mood Cure: Amino Acids and Their Incredible Impact on Moods Thanks OP! I have problems with keeping my mood stable. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 9540311 I've suspected it's always had something to due with hormones or neurochemicals. I can't wait to check this book out. Definitely do! And let me know how you make out. To me, it's been a lifesaver. It would have saved me years of unnecessary suffering if I'd known about this early on. Absolutely GET THE BOOK and do what it says. It will help you. The aminos by themselves are great, but the simple dietary suggestions (a few things to avoid and a few things to get more of) are extremely valuable as well. I really notice the difference, both positively and negatively when I eat those good mood and bad mood foods, respectively. I've been trying to piece the amino info together myself, and it's nice to know that someone has compiled it all into a book, all in one place for easy reference. Also, I had not heard of pyroluria before, but it firs my boyfriend to a tee, and he has had no success getting help from allopathic medicine with his issues. So, we'll be looking into getting him tested and going from there. Sincere and heartfelt thanks, OP. I stumbled upon your thread at exactly the right time for me, couldn't be happier for the info! |

That's awesome. Thanks for coming back to share your experience. Yeah, I need to get tested for that myself. I fit most of the symptoms as well. I have a feeling that's going to be fantastic for me to know and treat with the B6 and Zinc, I believe it was. Let me know if your bf tests +/- for it. I think the test is about $150 which is nothing if it turns out to be the case and it's easily treatable. Seems like a total life-changer if one can overcome the symptoms of that. Have a great day! Yeah, the GABA is very relaxing. I rarely take that as I don't tend to get stressed out or have trouble sleeping. But, I do take DLPA and L-Tyrosine every morning when I wake up and they give me a nice boost and keep my mood/energy nice and level. Thanks for sharing your experience.
