Many of the wild berries and wild plants and flowers growing all around us and even roots such as cattails are edible but most people aren't even aware of this.

I recommend a book called "Botany in a day" It won't teach you about wild food but it teaches how to identify and categorize the plant families. Once you know the plant family it's much easier to search and identify the specific species.
