And why was that? Because he put the Kingdom first..and alll else was provided Are you magic? Do you not live like Jesus? Im obviously Why aren't you feeding all the hungry and poor? |

The Schanaman’s posted clear signs stating the peaches were gone, the orchard was closed, and no trespassing was allowed. Despite the signs, many still knocked on the Schanaman’s door, angry that the peaches were gone. One person threw rocks. Others drove their vehicles into the orchard, hitting a tree and breaking pipes, which will cost more to replace than was given in donations for the peaches. “It cost us a lot to give away free peaches,” Marilyn said. People also took apples, which were never offered to the public, and began picking through the neighbor’s peach orchard as well. “Imagine my embarrassment,” Marilyn said. “I’m just really disappointed,” she said, “90 percent of those who came were great but that other 10 percent were just crazy.”... In my state ,which grows lots of water melons, they had a crew go in and pick the ones that were left over, I forget how much fruit they got, but I think it was literally tons, which was all donated to the local homeless shelters. Thats the way to do it, have volunteers pick it who will not tear up the place, problem solved. |

Quoting: wildhoney Fridge is full to capacity..some fruits weighed over a kilo each!! What a waste of good fruit on the ground rotting Crazy world.. You better start canning all those fruits, before they go rotten. If all those hungry people were to organise themselves, the farmer would donate the fruits & they could have a canning party. Would also bring the community members together. We do that in my community - community canning. Problem is there are always the people who want to benefit from cooperative efforts like this but contribute absolutely nada in gmail of time and/or resources. I have 60 lbs of pears in my carport right now :) Mmmm pears. We have people like that around here too... We have a community garden that helps support the food pantry then we have about 25 raised beds for the school that helps support the student meals (I think they also send some home and the students work the gardens) but you always hear people "Oh I wish I could do that." So do it! You really don't even have to get a tiller. Map out the bed, cover it in a thick layer of pine needles and by spring what's under the needles is very rich gardening soil. The extension office wants to start a local seed exchange for heirloom seeds. There's 2-3 of us who are excited about it then the rest "But that's a lot of work.." ::sigh:: Guenwyfar "Karma is like a rubberband.. it can only stretch so far before it comes back and smacks you in the face." The ground literally covered with fruit too that had fallen off..lots of it rotting To begin with its not your fruit. It belongs to someone else. And getting it would be trespassing on private property. Or think of it this way. You can only wear one pair of shoes at a time, so in theory if you have more than one pair of shoes the pair your not wearing is at that moment going to waste. There are people in this world who have no shoes. Why shouldn't you let the neighborhood homeless guy wear your shoes when your not? Or extra clothes, or use your car when your not, anything your not using at that moment. Or what about the things you just don't use anymore and haven't given away? You bought it, you bought the rights to use it as you see fit, or to not use it, did you not? Even though there are people out there who need all of those things. Of course. The same goes with the fruit. You can't honestly tell me you give away everything you don't need. Because the money you used to pay for your computer and internet access and your time, could be better served buying fruit that's for sale and giving it to those starving masses. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 22894284 I live in a city. theres food bearing trees all around and they just go to waste. people plant shit ornamental garbage trees and plants and ignore and chop down the good ones of course it's labour intensive, but of all the unemployed and welfares and lazy unemployable losers, few even notice what is right in front of them. most of them get bitter and turn to crime and drugs in dispair of lack of money for enjoying life. the rest drive around angry and aggrivated doing evil and hurting people so they can be a success at their stupid jobs they are fail at. and fail at being human. I harvested 225 pounds of black walnuts this year from three trees (two form a neighbour and one in ours) in the backyard where i live I did all kinds of other stuff and i didn't even try very hard. I skipped over the hulls and probably wont make use of the shells either but just the nut meats alone once they are cracked, are worth about $200 or more and storeing them in the shell they last a long time. i duped the two neighbours into tossing theirs over the fence for me instead of having to clean them up. The other someone else was cleaning their yard or i would have gotten more. They were just going to throw them all away anyhow. they kindof taste like a cross between skeeter repelant and a pinecone with a appley nutty aftertaste. it was quite a bit of work but I have nothing better to do with my life. I was spending lots of money on walnuts before. i looked in the store the other day and a plastic tub 300g of shelled walunts is 7bucks if i was using the rest of the fruit (hulls for medicinal and stains and the shells) as well it would be worth even more. it makes a big mess but contained and cleaned up its not a problem. I see many nut trees in just this area mostly wasted from a forgotten time when people had brains enough to utilize the resorces at their disposal. They don't need them, they just form a union and demand raises till they end up out of a job then blame it on other people, while blowing all their money on cheap thrills and useless junk. how are you storing them? I tried to do this once, but like an idiot didn't use gloves. I stained my hands black for weeks and weeks. I had to go to two important job interviews with coal black hands. ~kick at the darkness til it bleeds daylight |
