Re: unpicked delicious expensive fruit left on trees to rot..and people hungry in the world..something aint right
I hear ya.
I live in a city.
theres food bearing trees all around and they just go to waste.
people plant shit ornamental garbage trees and plants and ignore and chop down the good ones

of course it's labour intensive, but of all the unemployed and welfares and lazy unemployable losers, few even notice what is right in front of them.
most of them get bitter and turn to crime and drugs in dispair of lack of money for enjoying life.
the rest drive around angry and aggrivated doing evil and hurting people so they can be a success at their stupid jobs they are fail at. and fail at being human.

I harvested 225 pounds of black walnuts this year from three trees (two form a neighbour and one in ours) in the backyard where i live I did all kinds of other stuff and i didn't even try very hard. I skipped over the hulls and probably wont make use of the shells either but just the nut meats alone once they are cracked, are worth about $200 or more and storeing them in the shell they last a long time.

i duped the two neighbours into tossing theirs over the fence for me instead of having to clean them up. The other someone else was cleaning their yard or i would have gotten more. They were just going to throw them all away anyhow.

they kindof taste like a cross between skeeter repelant and a pinecone with a appley nutty aftertaste.
it was quite a bit of work but I have nothing better to do with my life. I was spending lots of money on walnuts before. i looked in the store the other day and a plastic tub 300g of shelled walunts is 7bucks
if i was using the rest of the fruit (hulls for medicinal and stains and the shells) as well it would be worth even more.
it makes a big mess but contained and cleaned up its not a problem. I see many nut trees in just this area mostly wasted from a forgotten time when people had brains enough to utilize the resorces at their disposal. They don't need them, they just form a union and demand raises till they end up out of a job then blame it on other people, while blowing all their money on cheap thrills and useless junk.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 22894284

how are you storing them?
I tried to do this once, but like an idiot didn't use gloves. I stained my hands black for weeks and weeks. I had to go to two important job interviews with coal black hands.
lmao
 Quoting: cebu4u

I used to pick lots of pecans when I lived in Tx and stored them in clean coffee cans. Not sure if it would work for black walnuts but who knows.

in our town... there's a group of volunteers that go around the neighborhoods and help pick the fruit off the trees for people that aren't able to do so.

1/2 goes to the pickers
1/2 goes to the foodbank

and its keeps the bears out of peoples yards.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 23367695

These people are very inspiring:

"Our society produces mainly dried soup-mix consisting of Brussels sprouts, onions, tomatoes, carrots, peppers, beans, peas, broccoli, cauliflower, beets, turnips, potatoes, and dried peas. Since 1996 over 45 million servings have been shipped and distributed — literally around the Globe.

Current production averages over 6 million servings per year."

Problem imo is lack of empathy and compassion..
The us ..them divide
Or the me everybody else syndrome

To not feel or think it coul be you or me having to ask for help to buy kids a sandwich for school lunch..
Or having to look through garbage for scraps..

What i am saying is that food that is going to be wasted or thrown away can be used to help feed people who need it..

I thought this is pretty obvious yet i am termed..communist..socialist..obamaqueen etc..

The habit of viewing e erything from a po,itical point of view is strange in my opinion..especially regarding humanitarian issues

None of us are perfect..we can all learn..definitely me included..and improve
But surely to feel empathy for those with no food shouldnt be an issue imo

if the fruit was expensive people who owned the land would get wise and sell it. Its not hard to make ties with shipping agencies who will buy take and sell your fruit. Dont go wandering around in bc canada you will find yourself eventually in a field of weed and will get shot! whatever

Went yesterday into he deep countryside to visit friends..with friends and this is what i saw:
Fields of fruit trees absolutely full of fruit..different kind of fruit trees...full full full of fruit..

The ground literally covered with fruit too that had fallen off..lots of it rotting

I am a farmer in Iowa. Here's the truth. The world produces at least 2.5 times more food than it needs to feed 7 billion people.

The only reason anyone is hungry on a large scale is because those who control our reality choose wealth, gluttony, and excess over having a love for life and humanity.

Bill Gates (not sure it was him?) once said at a college graduation ceremony that in order to make one person a millionaire, 40,000 people must be penniless.

Wow..verysad
Anyone remember the prize winning photo of the starving baby girl who tried to crawl to the next food distribution point while a vulture was looking on?
The fotografer allegedly just took the foto and moved on..
Allegedly they both died..the baby shortly after of starvation..the fotografer allegedly some time after he collected his prize..reportedly he committed suicide
 Quoting: wildhoney

The world would be a much better place in the people who won the peace prize in the last 5 years would just kill themselves.

That organization is the laughing stock of Liberty and the poster child of Luciferian influences and practices.

No the problem is your projecting a lack of morals on someone else. It's not your stuff, and you have no right to condemn others or insinuate your of a higher morality because they aren't using their stuff in a way you deem is more fit.

Your so eager to give away other people's stuff. If you were of such a higher morality you'd buy your own fruit and give it away.

Thats your interpretation but not my intention..this is not about me..it is a thread addressing the issue of food going to waste while others go hungry..
And how it can be put to use to feed others instead of rotting away

Sorry but your words still accuse others of a lack of empathy, which you try to make ok by including yourself.

And if that is the case that you lack empathy then how dare you make
your lack of morals ok by saying others do too. You only know what's in your heart.

Why dont you listen to the message instead of attacking the messenger?

Who here is perfect and without sin?

Because we are neither perfect or without sin does that mean we cant interchange ideas? Give opinions? Give advice or even try to make the world a little bit better if only through and by the previous mentioned means?

And all this because we might be accused of trying to adopt a higher moral stance?

Oh i dont think so..not in my case anyway..

I really dont care if you think this thread is about me trying to convey an ideal of holiness or whatever...that is so not like me

What bothers me is among other things...good food rotting and people that would be so happy to eat it or give it to their kids

If i was as you suggest..i would have changed my avatar ages ago..but i havent..because i identify witb it for many personal reasons

I am not a saint..or perfect

I most certainly am striving to become holy
And i dont care about the logic and reason of the world

Your time would have been better spent contacting the charities in your area or getting up a group yourself to accomplish what you expect others to do.

I guess I just dont care for you trying to elevate yourself through pointing out the lack of moral in others which (no matter how hard your trying to weasel out of it now) you've spent this whole thread trying to do just that.

You just took what you saw (the rotting fruit) and tried to make a case for morality out of it. You had no idea why the fruit was left there. You made no suggestion on who was to pay for the picking of it. Or who was to pay for the distribution of it.

Change it all you want now, (to AGAIN) try to make yourself look like you are something your not. But your still the one who took no action yourself, to feed that fruit to the hungry, and the reason you did nothing was so you could come on here and make others take responsiblilty for your own indifference.

And to this subject.....nuff said

I could write a tbread about me myself and i..what i pray for..what i want to dedicate my life to..the things and decisions i have taken based on faith and faith alone..but i am NOT anyone who deserves or has any right to adopt a moral high ground

One thing that i do have is a profou d determination for the Kingdom of God to manifest..and this has ripple effects in my life that are not of interest

One thing i do have is a profound abhorrence to cruelty and injustice towards others

Does tbat make me better? I certainly hope not

I dont care about the opinions of the world..only of God..wether you believe it or not is irrelevant

And just for the record..if you check my Mother Angelica thread..you will see what she said about a contemplative life..even as lay people..and how she was critisized for this..
I happen to agree with her.
I would be lying if i said i actively participate in God knows how many charities etc.. I dont..
What i do do is give to beggars ..always..

Why dont i? .
I feel my calling is the contemplative life as a lay person
For the Kingdom..
It is what i want to do
Why? Because for me it is the most effective way to transform this world..through prayer and spiritual dedication..the power of prayer for the Glory of God ..and a life in harmony and not distracted by matters of the world

This way..to me at least..i can..through prayer..encompass the whole world instead of maybe affecting a few lives..worthy as it may be..it is NOT my goal

And it most certainly isnt because i couldnt be bothered

As perhaps my maybe frivolous , superficial..bubbly appearance may lead some to believe..erroneously (sp)

OP, you need to read the children's story

THE LITTLE RED HEN

There's a REASON there are hungry people in the world

as Brief said, the food is there for those who will work and toil

Just like the misguided people in Habitat for Humanity, building homes for people

they should be rounding up the homeless and say, "Do you want a home? Okay, we will supply you the tools and materials, BUILD YOUR OWN HOME."

Do children even get to read THE LITTLE RED HEN anymore? Probably not.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 8264381

Then I guess Christ should have starved to death because he didnt work and toil?
 Quoting: wildhoney

How do you know Christ didn't work and toil? He was a carpenter, wasn't he?

Did he sit around on his fat ass all day with his hand out, waiting for a gubmint freebie?

You can't be this gullible... this naive... this clueless

I guess you can

Well he wouldn't be grouped in with the lazy bums getting free food, housing, medical care, cell phones, etc. without showing one bit of gratitude and howling for more, more, more, never showing any inclination to work or contribute to society.

He deserved donations because he was DOING SOMETHING. Ministering to people. Healing people. That's WORK.

He wasn't sitting on his fat ass contributing nothing to the well-being of people and society, demanding others pay for his every need.

This week while doing my daily walks I noticed the teens at the middle school threw about a dozen oranges into the street.

When a car came by and ran one over they all applauded.

After recess ended I did a loop back to where the oranges were. Picked up 1/2 dozen still wrapped in plastic.

Did my part for waste not this week.

Talk is cheap, pick the fruit and sell it then give the money to the hungry.

OR reflect on your own nature and perhaps you might gain some insight into the nature of man in general and then rotting fruit while children starve wont surprise you so much.
