50% of the College Grads Cannot Find Jobs...

College should be more for the intellectual class and other schools should be for skills training along with work experience .
Now a business wont even employ a person unless they have two years experience in that field ( as coffee barista ) i mean really . who is setting the standards for unemployment here .

I took a few college courses, then decided to become a Pharmacy Technician. Trained for 6 months in that trade,got my pharmacy technician certificate. I then worked in that field for 6 years before moving into the software industry getting a job where I was supporting Pharmacy software. Now I work from home supporting pharmacy software making 81K per year. I've been working in software support for 14 years. Love it.

I agree on the math ... both of my kids have minors in math (they each needed 1 or 3 additional credits). Even though they pick up the concepts easily, they still had to bust their butts to apply the theory to graduate.

and i can tell you the ONLY people I know who are still doing well,


1. people who work in government, they still have money. I regret not going to work for the government instead of trying to be self employed.

2. And, people doing banking shit, high high level bankign shit, not bank tellers or branch managers or whatever,

finding a job is easy if you very smart enough to choose engineering and tough enough to graduate

can't knock for that , just sad that its not a helluva lot more than my second job paid in 91. second job was delivering pizza's about 36ish hours a week

Experience trumps Education
Newly Grad have less or no experience and expect a lot.
What they learn from school is different from the actual world.

Whenever I hear "good work ethic" or "hard working" I just laugh. These are euphemisms for "willing slave" (unless you work for yourself).

Or maybe they just want to know you will show up Monday morning and not call in hungover...

I am disable and Hard of hearing too, i don't need SSI or SSDI i mean NONE. If i work with a company, i expect kept the money in the POCKET. Need something Invent new company for purpose helping with Disable or others, not the related under the FED or STATE, need a renew one company.

learn a trade, become a self employed contractor, then pursue a BA degree later in your spare time.

Assuming you aren't in some hard science field that is in demand or will be in demand.
