What if the 'fatal wound' is the loss of power when he loses the presidency? At some pivotal point, Obama would be "asked" if he would be interested in serving as Secretary General of the United Nations. Headed by a former U.S. president, the global role of the UN would seem larger, more robust, and many in America would be willing to follow Obama as a true "world" leader - especially those in America angered by his electoral loss.
