On November 2nd, NASA will move a space shuttle for the final time. Space shuttle Atlantis will be moved to the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Center, completing the final museum delivery of a space shuttle. Right now Atlantis can be viewed at the Vehicle Assembly Building (VAB) during Visitor Center bus tours. This is the last time a space shuttle will be present at the building where the shuttle stack was assembled for each launch. On November 2nd it will roll out on the Orbiter Transport System down State Road 3 before turning onto Space Commerce Way. It will be parked there for 3 hours at Exploration Park to give an opportunity for the public to visit and photograph the shuttle before it completes its journey to the visitor center. It will then be wheeled into the new museum building that will house it, and then the final wall will be constructed behind it, permanently sealing it inside. "On Nov. 2, space shuttle Atlantis will be transported from NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, Fla. to the nearby visitor center. The 10 mile (16 kilometer) road trip will take about 11 hours, including a three hour stop to give the public a chance to walk around the spacecraft." [ link to www.collectspace.com]
