Believe it or not I was the one that helped to get this thing on the ballot. Does anyone remember me from last year posting fliers in my town regarding Monsanto? Well that began the snowball effect and now I'm connected with all sorts of people for 37. What I can't believe is the CA GOP is against 37 which is nuts but the CA Democrat Party is for 37? Weird because Monsanto's vice president was granted a position in the Obama administration. Makes me say scratch my head.

Oh well I'm going to be throwing a House Party in support of 37 anybody in Fresno CA is welcomed to show support with us. If you want to know when and location of the party please sign up at carighttoknow.org

Fuck that, i voted NO on 37, GMO's will save the world one day. they will be the solution to world hunger. california will have crops growing in death valley.

i'm kinda poor. so all my food is already gmo'd out. we don't need another fucking sticker that makes food more expensive. it's retarded.

Keep your head in the sand. Thank goodness that the GMOs will eventually prevent you from contributing to the gene pool.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 23200542

lol, you're eating them too, but you shouldn't worry, there isn't any evidence that gmo's are harmful. it's not like we use the dna of what we eat, it's metabolized just like everything else.
 Quoting: Kharnifex

Yep I have been eating them too but I don't find it funny in the slightest. I'm disgusted to think of the foods that I've allowed my children to eat. I find it horrifyingly evil that important information has been hidden from us for who knows how long. There is no evidence that they are safe either - and I'm not a gambling type of person when it comes to my health. We do enough damage to ourselves in our lifetimes - at least we can minimize exposures to unnecessary damage IF we have the proper information to make informed decisions. I just happen to believe I have the right to have important information about the source of my food so that I can make choices about what I put into my body.

If your completely comfortable eating pesticides that is fine FOR YOU - but I want to know if there are pesticides and GMOs in the food I eat. Is that really too much to ask whats in the food? Seriously? Ever wonder why its so important that we are kept in the dark on this?

Re: California GLP'ers WARNING! Vote YES on 37! Hell No to GMO! PIN
Here's the bottom line.

I read nearly every part of P 37 before deciding that it is NOT as thorough, and is flawed. HOWEVER, it's a start, and COULD be the beginning of a domino effect in health foods.

P37 basically forces manufacturers to admit whether or not their products are genetically modified. If they are, they will probably LOSE a ton of profit, when the general public starts seeing "This product has been genetically modified." on the package.

This is turn will only BOOST the sales of organically-grown, and non-gmo crop. (Which could result in lower prices for healthier foods.)And manufacturers will have to start using higher-quality ingredients (and probably raise the pricing too.) to force Americans to eat semi-healthy, in the terms of GMO's, and to regain profits that are in a state of decline, from the public being deterred from the "This has poison in it" label.

The whole "Farmers, and mom & pop stores will be devastated" is BS. The only time they will EVER be devastated, is if they willingly sell their product, that fits in the category to list GMO's, and they don't list it.

Have you ever seen the cliche, "New look, same great taste.." Companies change their labels all the time. So adding a few more letters will hardly cause a dent in their budget that they already spend on expensive inks, and flashy designs.

Again, Mom & pop stores will not be affected, unless they are growing their products themselves, and not following guidelines. You break the rules, you better expect your business to be crushed.

Now that people have been given a chance to finally vote on this thing it would be pretty appalling to see them miss on this opportunity to protect not only themsevles but also the rest of us.

Please, don't screw this one up!

Re: California GLP'ers WARNING! Vote YES on 37! Hell No to GMO! PIN
I've heard this Prop is flawed. Allows lots of loopholes, like dog food has to be labeled, but not human beef.

Here is some info:
If Proposition 37 is approved by voters, it will:
Require labeling on raw or processed food offered for sale to consumers if the food is made from plants or animals with genetic material changed in specified ways.
Prohibit labeling or advertising such food as "natural."
Exempt from this requirement foods that are "certified organic; unintentionally produced with genetically engineered material; made from animals fed or injected with genetically engineered material but not genetically engineered themselves; processed with or containing only small amounts of genetically engineered ingredients; administered for treatment of medical conditions; sold for immediate consumption such as in a restaurant; or alcoholic beverages."

Flawed or not, YES on 37!!

The Tea Party here is telling their people to vote NO. I hope most ignore them. I expect any concerned Mother will vote YES. Tons of LibTards will vote YES. The Latino vote will mostly be YES.

Organic is big business here. Which reminds me... I was surprised to hear a radio ad the other day funded by Whole Foods. Cudos to them!
 Quoting: Juliebean

I think Whole Foods has become more evil than Monsanto, as Whole Foods is supposed to be representing whole, healthy food. To me, they are completely soulless. I will stick with my local health food store.
 Quoting: Present and Aware

Which is why I said I was surprised. They still deserve cudos for running the ad. They did something right this time.
 Quoting: Juliebean

I agree with you, and I don't particularly like Whole Foods either.

FFS, the employees who work at Monsanto won't even eat GMOs! They insist on having organic food in the Monsanto cafeteria!

Here's a little satire to pass along to folks. Sometimes humor says it best and these celebs make Monsanto look as foolish and misleading as they really are.

this is a problem though... it's very flawed.

"made from animals fed or injected with genetically engineered material but not genetically engineered themselves; processed with or containing only small amounts of genetically engineered ingredients"

so the animals fed GMOs can be labelled as non GMO... that's FRAUDULENT!

containing only small amounts??? even a small amount of GMO can reproduce inside the human or animal bodies, can alter genetics permanently.

so they're really trying to deceive more people, but to at least label SOME of the GMOs is better than none.. but still flawed to allow the mindless people to poison themselves or family because they assume that the GMO label will be on meat products fed GMOs, but wont.
