The popular vote does matter, in your State. There's a reason the electoral college is in place.

Give us some stats on the history of electoral votes by individual state, along with each states total popular vote. Don't be calling someone an idiot unless you can back it up. I'll be waiting.

Let me explain the system so you guys understand...

It's voting day!
Everyone Goes and Votes!
Once Voting time is up They count the Votes!
They then show the results to the Electoral College!
It is expected the the Electoral College vote the way the people request!
However they are not required to follow what the people request!
This means in Texas for Example if 61% vote Obama you would expect the Electoral College to put there votes on Obama.
Texas being a Strong Republican State might go ahead and vote and against the population because who the fuck wants Obama again?



The only thing that is actually required from the Electoral College is that they all cast the same vote meaning they can't be 50/50.

I totally get that, but that's an extreme (number one, you're not going to find a 61% popular vote in Texas for Obama... maybe California, but come on!). In addition, it's rare that the Electoral Vote does not match the popular vote in that specific State. It's rare, and in the past when it ever did happen, it had little outcome on the result. It's in place so that states like Texas and California do not carry the majority of the popular vote and out-vote smaller states, thereby not giving them a voice.

The only election decided by the Electoral College is the Presidential election. All the other elections this fall are by popular vote.

Have been asking since 1970 just what the names of the Electoral College member are... so far I have not succeeded in finding out.

In fact the very term "Electroal College" reminds me of the "Electoral College" that used to vote on who was to be the Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire.. and only the Cardinals and the Kings and Princes had a vote.

Like in the 1980 election when democrats got 40.98% of the popular vote but only got 9% of the electoral votes.

or 1984 when dems got 40.56% of the popular vote but got only 2.4% of the electoral votes.

Or like when 1988 when dems got 45.65% of the popular vote but got 20% of the electoral votes.

or in 1992 when Ross Perot got 18.9% of the popular vote but a whopping 0 electoral votes.
