AS I said they really are nice guys, WE ALL talk about baseball and football, kid around and all. And YES they all do their share of work, it's not that big of a plant where we work so you can't really slack off. Problem is the place hates to fire anybody except in extreme matters because whenever somebody, plant employee or office employee, has even a little tiff with the company they call our local paper, which is so starved for local news that they send a reporter out to cover it, next day it's in the morning paper and all over town (mid-size midwestern city I'm talking about) and then the company looks bad and has to explain their side of things.

This whole election thing does have them wound-up and I dont know why, they work a regular 40-hour week, so I dont think they get any govt. check or whatever, but they talked about busting up downtown.

The company I work for had a big meeting on the floor earlier this week to discuss this same thing. For the last week or so almost all of my black co-workers have stated that if Obama loses, they were going to take the day after the election off so they can protest. Nearly a quarter of our workforce of close to 100 people is black, so management with the help of HR put in writing that "Everyone is required to report on time unless they had already scheduled to have the day off. Anyone who fails to be punctual the day after the election will not be welcome back on the premises." We had to sign a copy stating that we had read and understand the policy. That shut everyone up instantly because they know that the company can easily replace them with other people that very day for less money.

How silly indeed. The company for which they work does not choose the president. That would not be an effective means of protest. And what happened to not judging a person by the color of their skin? They support Obama just because he's black? That's racist. It would be racist for your company to NOT write them up - there should be no leniency of that kind towards any person of any ethnicity.

Actually, where I work the ones who bitch the most are white. I might be off on my estimate. Half of the workers in my building are white, then you have a whole lot of dominicans and cape verdians and 1 guy from nigeria. So I consider them as both. I've gotten along with them great for years, until this election. Now they are just rude and act offended when someone says they won't vote for Obama. They don't realize that their open hatred for me deciding to vote for anyone but Obama solidifies my decision.
