It's owned privately by the chairman of the board of directors of The AP - associated press, ultra-elite. William Dean Singleton is his name. His claim to fame in newpapers, of which he owns 56 through this company, is that he clusters functions. For example, all the copy for ads might be printed up in Pleasanton, CA, at their building, all the editorials out of another city, etc. Sad, but this is what happens when you remove the laws against anti-trust, which happened in the 1980s.
