Israeli defence sources confirm that Estelle will be attacked tonight

Ship to Gaza is an initiative for practical solidarity with the people of Gaza. As soon as it is economically and practically possible we intend to send a ship with necessities from Scandinavia via ports in Europe and the Mediterranean to Gaza.
In the ports visited by the ship, cultural and public opinion events will be arranged together with local organizations. In Gaza the reception and distribution of the aid will be administered by politically unaffiliated organizations.

The Foreign Ministry said in a statement that Israel was in contact with the governments whose citizens were passengers on the ship. Israel's policy has not changed, the Ministry said, and the ship will not be allowed to approach Gaza.

The Estelle is on its way to Gaza carrying Parliamentarians from Greece (Vangelis Diamandopoulos), Norway (Aksel Hagen), Spain (Ricardo Sixto Iglesias) and Sweden (Sven Britton); and a retired Canadian Parliamentarian (Jim Manly – see his personal message below*). On the Estelle now are citizens of Canada, Finland, Greece, Israel, Italy, Norway, Spain and Sweden.

All on board the Estelle are peaceful civilians committed to non violence.

The Estelle carries a cargo of aid to the Israeli blockaded Palestinian population of Gaza, but above all it is carrying a cargo of solidarity.
