Re: 5 Feet 11 Inches and 155 lbs = Too Skinny?
Depends what type of physique you want. For me, that is waaayy too skinning.

But I am 5'10" 250 at the moment. After about another year of bulking adding on another 20 or so pounds of muscle I will cut hard down to about 225.

Also I played hockey, I have large, thick legs. That's probably where a lot of the weight comes from, not sure the exact amount.

Yer a big fella. what's your b/f? I got up to 230ish then slowing slimmed down without losing any muscle.

skinny but not too skinny. At 5'11", 145 would be too skinny. 165 would be ideal. I'm 5'9" 162 right now and I'm working like a devil to gain muscle but it frustrates me that I can eat eat eat eat eat to 164 by bedtime and then wake up at 161. It makes no sense and the entire day is used to catch back up to 164.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 25573358

165 would be Ideal? I dunno, but I've been into fitness for a very long time and would never give out specific numbers as being ideal.

I am a 5 foot 11 inch tall male weighing 155 lbs. I have more muscle than not and no bones sticking out except for my ribs, which have always stuck out a bit. Am I too skinny?

The reason I ask is because in high school I used to weigh 210 lbs. Since then I started going to the gym and eventually lost the fat. I stopped going as soon as I hit 165. So, being fat for a crucial portion of my life has made me look back and wonder if I am in fact healthier.

So, is 155 lbs too skinny? Just right? Should I lose more?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 24552466

Way too skinny. You should have at least 15 inch arms and be around 170 at your height.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 19199109

ya, but maybe he's not going for that kind of physique. According to my preferences... I am about 6', 200 lbs right now with about 12% body fat and I'm have feel SATISFIED. I slowly gain strength, shed unncessary fat, build endurance, fast twitch, etc. etc. at this point.
 Quoting: dan 25920406

Well, this sounds like what a football player does or another type of athlete. IT is what I used to do.

If not, and you are just trying to build an ideal physique, you are going about it wrong my friend. I can tell you, putting on muscle mass, and losing fat at the same time, if you are not a beginner, is fucking hell on your CNS (central nervous system). Unless you go about it just half assed I guess I dunno. Just my thoughts.

Yea I eventually do you are right. I actually just kind of addressed this is my last post to you.

No way in hell can I put another 20-30 pounds of muscle on at the same time as cutting my weight. Its helleous, and not necessary. Fuck I did that shit for years. Now I am properly bulking and see gains.

Its just the physique I am striving for. But you are definitely right, at the moment I am overweight and will be probably for at least another year maybe even two.

I was done "bulking" at 230 lbs. then Gradually dropped my weight down to 200 without losing any strength, but actually gaining strength. You are correct that if you want to put on your 20-30 lbs of muscle it is not really practical in a cutting phase. I think once you are done bulking and can get down to 220 or less you feel like a beast like I do. Also, my Central nervous system is great. I train that too :]

I'm also a bit wary of having a super high calorie diet. I would finish with the bulking and get on something more sustainable/healthy. At least at some point. I eat a pretty high protein, high nutrition, diet. with just what I need and little bit more.

Your BMI is 21.7

If your waist is 34, your waist/ht is 47.9 and your percent body fat is 19.3-- all in the healthy range.

"Willoughby ideal athlete" at that height has a waist of 32.5 and a weight of 188 lb.

Wow, totally different answers.

Look at this pic I found on the internet.

Compared to the guy on the right, I have much larger lats, bigger, wider shoulders, bigger pecs, actual ab muscles and thinner forearms. Also, more veins.

I feel like I am in the best shape of my life actually, but only because I would rather be skinny than fat.

 Quoting: dan 25920406

Yup, you should be! And I am too. Most of my calories are very clean. I take in 10 servings of fruit and vegetable a day. My antioxidant routine is absolutely insane.

I take in three large raw cloves of garlic a day in my fruit smoothie for anti-inflammation. I take in turmeric and some other herbs.

I drink large quantities of organic green tea I steep at between 155-160 F for about two hours (I make probably about 5 gallons or so at a time to last me a few days depending. I put two whole lemons in that plus drink it with low sodium v8 and eat about a gram of ester c per large mug (yes I eat it, small pieces at a time while drinking tea).

The reason for this is that lemon juice and orange juice have been found to make the catechins in green 14x more potent with a 50 50 mix. I don't like to drink that much orange juice (not that good for you, but I do drink some with it) and it would take too many lemons. So I hope the v8 helps and since the researchers speculate it is the vitamin c in the lemon/orange that protects the catechins I eat my ester c with it.

I also take 300 mg of reservatrol, 20mg pterostilbene, 10 mg astaxanthin, about 500 mcg- 1 mg zeaxanthin, and always get my fruit smoothie to be about at least half wild grown frozen blueberries i get from sams. about 200 mg of coq10 as well...

I take at least 4 grams of fish oil a day from xtendlife and that is also where I get my multi from.

I try to eat at least a piece of 85% dark chocolate i get on the cheap from Aldi... and I also use frozen broccoli for my smoothies...

Hm that is about it but there are a couple other things like additional b-complex etc.

But I am as safe as I can be with my high calorie diet, and when I go to cut I will turn back to vegetarianism and get the majority of my protein from whey...

This sounds insane probably but it really isn't hard, I guarantee I spend less on food than 99% of the people since I don't eat out, buy in bulk, and mostly take protein shakes for my additional meals mixed with waxy maize. You get into a rythm just like anything.

And remember muscle doesn't grow in the gym, it grows while you sleep, eat and rest.

Oh I eat protein bars too, get em 2for1 at body building.com. so you are talking like 1.50 for a meal right there.

And no, I don't look like a rhino, I really do have a large frame and I don't look like I weigh as much as I do. My ideal physique is to obviously be the best phenotype of my dna as I can, however, my goal is to be something along the lines of Lazar Angelov. Who, like me, used to waste time trying to burn and bulk at the same time. Here is his pick.

I know this is late but I literally just got back from the gym an hour ago, drank after workout, fed the dogs, fed myself, took some vits and then hopped on GLP.

Hit my delts fucking hard. Compound military press- later raises- front raises- reverse fly- face pulls- then I did my lower back on the back extension. Warmed up with 10 of hard cardio, dynamic stretching of the shoulders, then a tiny bit of static stretching.

Hopefully ya see this eventually cause it took me fucking 5-10 minutes to write out lol

Take care bud.

If you are satisfied with your body that is all that matters. That is why I do what I do, to be satisfied with mine. This is my ideal physique, like I said I look more like cormier now (I know I am not on the same level as the man, he is insane) but looks wise are are similar if not the same atm.

This man has my frame, body type, and same exact height. This is him no photoshop:

[link to superstrong.ch]

So am I going to look EXACTLY like him? No. It is just a goal, the ideal physique I want. You should decide what you want to do, what physique you want, how much muscle you need to add to get it, then cut if you desire to be defined.

Up to you. Takes work, but to me it is worth it. It is a lifestyle to me, second nature. My gym time is like a business appointment, and my mentality just can't be stopped.

It depends on your muscle mass. I have low muscle mass and it's hard for me to build muscle when I do work out so I'm still flabby around 160-165 @ 6ft. If you're that weight, but still have enough lean muscle, then you're built for speed instead of brute strength.

Re: 5 Feet 11 Inches and 155 lbs = Too Skinny?
I am a 5 foot 11 inch tall male weighing 155 lbs. I have more muscle than not and no bones sticking out except for my ribs, which have always stuck out a bit. Am I too skinny?

The reason I ask is because in high school I used to weigh 210 lbs. Since then I started going to the gym and eventually lost the fat. I stopped going as soon as I hit 165. So, being fat for a crucial portion of my life has made me look back and wonder if I am in fact healthier.

So, is 155 lbs too skinny? Just right? Should I lose more?

Do it yourself, plug in any player and it will tell you they are fat.

that just gives you what the average persons BMI is that has the same stats.

To get the actual BMI you would have to actually measure it. Couple ways to be done, but that calculator ain't it.

Our Department of Health is misleading...

people should take that into account for everything.... when reading food labels also...

and 400 IUs of Vitamin D... is NOT ENOUGH FOR ONE DAY.. F.D.A.

that's like 25 seconds in the sun...

we need 1-2 hours of sun everyday
