The main reason I think Libya, or Syria, or Both are on deck this weekend is so Obama will have something to crow about at the debate on Monday...

I have no idea why I sense it though.

Maybe it is just because I am expecting the "October Surprise" before the election that seems to happen.

Can't afford to get into a debate? Is everyone forgetting that presidential elections/debates/and everything that goes with that stuff is COMPLETELY STAGED!? Wtf. Everything is staged in the elections and debates and anyone that has done their homework KNOWS this. The president is selected not elected so debates don't mean a fucking thing. I guess I could be wrong, but more evidence points towards me and others with this opinion, being spot-on. So dare I say.....this is an absolute FAIL.

Now on the other-hand, if the bankers and trillionaires backing the elections want to see a big event go down this weekend, it probably will. I think they wont do shit though because they have everything they need, they don't need a public tragedy or big event.

If something goes down and causes the Debate to be Canceled, I do not think it will be a big deal, we can live without another debate. However if something happened right before the election then I can See the Doom and Gloom.

I was wondering about this as well, OP. While we do not know all of the facts of what went down in Benghazi, there are very strong indications, documents, and testimonies that the consulate was ignored, either deliberately or out of ignorance. My only guess is that Obama's standard response will be: "The investigation is on-going, and it would not be wise for me to comment on the matter while it is still being adjudicated." or "Oh, that was Hillary."

You may be right.
I suppose we will see.

I think you may have something here, OP... it would help explain the stock market numbers from Friday. Earnings are not enough for a 2% decline. My bet is that traders were positioning themselves for Monday.

Several pieces of circumstantial evidence have been presented in this thread.

Warships take time and effort to move around the world. They have to port, resupply, undergo maintenance, and so on. At the moment we have twice as many capital ships in the region than normal and we won't easily get that to happen again anytime soon. The big E is on her last voyage. We've got two carriers (I think) undergoing long term refitting. There is sabre rattling over in Asia that requires one to two carriers to be kept in the neighborhood.

Two extra carriers adds well over 100 attack aircraft plus dozens of support planes. Those amphibs mentioned by another poster add a lot of marine hardware. We don't have many amphibs to keep hanging around in the ME all the time.

Now is the time.

As for Obama striking this weekend to use it as evidence of his strong foreign policy I'm less sure. It sure would look awefully suspicious of him. Then again, according to science half the adult population never reaches the final stage of cognitive development;The stage where they can form abstract opinions without being told what their opinions are going to be. So he can say anything he wants to half the people.
