Will sometimes make an appearance if I find a post particularly interesting, otherwise I remain behind the scenes usually. ^^ Not sure if that was what you were asking. I call this Lurking not spooking. EDIT: On second thought I really am not sure what this thread is about at all... very cryptic though. lol Last Edited by Lucifelle on 10/20/2012 01:02 PM I am what I am... ---------------- "That which makes you think that you are a human is not human. It is but a dimensionless point of consciousness, a conscious nothing; all you can say about yourself is: ‘I am’. You are pure being-awareness-bliss. To realize that is the end of all seeking. You come to it when you see all you think yourself to be as a mere imagination and stand aloof in pure awareness of the transient as transient, imaginary as imaginary, unreal as unreal." — Nisargadatta Maharaj "I do not know what I may appear to the world, but to myself I seem to have been only like a boy playing on the sea shore and diverting myself in now and then finding a smoother pebble or a prettier shell than ordinary whilst the great ocean of truth lay undiscovered before me." — Isaac Newton |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 1524508 United States 10/20/2012 03:51 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Yes, I'd say they are always tied in some way or another. Easiest way is with money. They do a little subcontracting at GREAT rates, and the agency in question gets to disavow their actions if need be. You can bet your sweet ass that they are tracked and even guided through the rest of their lives. Mission impossible? For some missions, you would think they make the movies from real life. Unless they are independantly wealthy, they will always have a usable trade to sell. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 1524508 United States 10/20/2012 03:55 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Always wonder how they deal with family. Do they know? Or is it best they never know. What about being married? Quoting: Blue Skies Family? What family? "Secret agent man! Secret agent man! They've given you a number, and taken away your name." (Old 60's song) The ones that go really dark keep family well away from it. Like a half a world away and hidden. |

What about being married? Quoting: Blue Skies i suppose there are strict rules for that. but in reality, i guess just about everyone deviates from them, on their own responsability... the few people i once knew who worked in intel, were either very strong personalities who do their own thing their own way, or complete utter sheepish drones. |

Quoting: pink cat would you say it's fair to say that once you're a spook you're always a spook...like the mafia? or do they actually let you leave and go live a normal life afterwards if you decide to quit. serious question. Yes. Once you accept recruitment and are given extremely sensitive information, it is a lifelong commitment. No. Your life is your life, there is no quitting. |

I'm sure the majority that work for the CIA are analysts/researchers. Collecting intel. The ones that go out into the field, I could understand them not being married or telling their families. I mean how can you hide it. Gone for weeks at a time. Probably not being able to contact them. The people that work in the offices could have a some what regular life, I guess. :kitten on fence: |

Quoting: Blue Skies i think the majority of people in intel are analysts. but those are extremely dull desk jobs, where any creativity is strictly forbidden. you're just a machine processing and classifying, a biological cog in the machinations of information flow. you have few real responsabilities, because you are neatly compartmentalized anyway. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 17090286 United States 10/21/2012 05:50 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | so far the answer seems to me, to lean towards yes. once you are a spook, you are always in that circle somewhat. Quoting: pink cat you can kind of leave it but they will always have an eye on you forever more. and because they have so much information on you, they can basically "call you up" and have you do little "favours" for them every once in awhile. also, i would imagine, the type of person who would become a spook would most likely always have that "in their blood" so to speak. like a love of gambling. so in one way or another, once you are a spook, you never really leave the arena. am i wrong #6? Once you're in the Jack Burns circle of trust you can never leave it. |
