| IRQ_1 User ID: 24600584 10/20/2012 06:08 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | OP if your going to use a technology utilizing sound waves to alter gun powder wouldn't it make more sense to use the same technology to just explode the rounds? This would take out the ammo AND the weapons as well as any "enemy combatants" nearby. Why neutralize the ammo and leave the weapons still useable? Certainly if this tech does what you claim it would easily be able to spontaneously ignite live rounds? Jack of all trades, master of none. We are all the result of our past choices meeting the future. "shall not be infringed." |

Quoting: IRQ_1 that could also harm civilians and children. just incapacitate the weapon is all that is required to render it non threatening. then unless you have new source for ammo, the weapon is useless to harm anyone, even children standing next to it. |

That amount of energy would be huge. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1524508 There is no weapon of the like that you describe. Our physics and technology is not up to the task and will not be for a very long long time. the military is 40 yrs more advanced than you give them credit for. there is a reason why the military recruits top scientists in their field. do not underestimate them. The military is a bureaucracy stuck in 2nd gen warfare. How many years did it take Rickover to convince the mossbacks to go nuclear? I doubt if top scientists have ever worked for government outside of developing the bomb. |

So the all powerful gubmint (in your mind) can deploy this imaginary weapon and the microwave weapon over all three million square miles? Flawlessly, accurately and everywhere? Usually people like you are always hysterical about how terrible and awesome the conventional forces are. This is a twist on that "reasoning" I suppose. |

You really stretched that one out there didnt you.I doubt they need to cover 3 million miles now do they. They would only need to cover the area the problem was in at the time. Must be some reason they dont care how much ammo nutty people buy.when the time comes I would guess people will see why. |
