but looking to the east as I was out side I saw a very very very pretty purplish pink but more purple...

looking to the west nothing that colorful but the sun shined to the east and I remember it being a very cool color purple.. almost took a pic

it came down really fast like strait down

no sound really fast and very close

if I had to guess it landed in the canal like a street over from me maybe a little further..

The southern part of Florida, where the four lines meet. Is that pretty close to you? And why are there four object or whatever they are arriving in one place......I don't know how to read it either.

I cant zoom into the map and see exactly what county but dang that looks just like where im from hahaha

If an eclipse of the sun takes place, it will be preceded or followed by an eclipse of the moon. Generally speaking, if the solar eclipse is a total or annular eclipse — with the new moon appearing to centrally cross in front of the sun's disk — a lunar eclipse occurring two weeks before or after the eclipse of the sun will be relatively minor, with the moon only skimming the outer part of the Earth's shadow. That's what moon observes will see next week.

There was a total solar eclipse visible from parts of Australia on Nov. 14 local time, and two weeks later, on Wednesday, Nov. 28, it will be the moon’s turn to undergo an eclipse. But as expected, it will be an underwhelming event since the moon will slide through the Earth’s tenuously faint outer shadow (called the penumbra) resulting in a penumbral lunar eclipse.

The global "hum" of the Earth is now helping scientists probe the planet's deep interior, a group of researchers say.

Since this hum — called seismic noise, which is generated by sources such as storm-driven ocean waves — is detectable everywhere on Earth, it could help scientists analyze the innards of the planet worldwide, investigators added in a new study detailed in the Nov. 23 issue of the journal Science.

Traditionally, researchers peer into the interior of the Earth by analyzing seismic waves generated by earthquakes. The way seismic waves zip through the planet depends on physical properties of the Earth's innards, such as rock composition, temperature and pressure. As such, the way the waves behave offers useful clues about details of Earth's geology that are otherwise largely hidden from view.

"With these waves, seismologists produce images in a way similar to medical imaging," researcher Michel Campillo, a seismologist at Joseph Fourier University in Grenoble, France, told OurAmazingPlanet.

MIAMI A diver from New Mexico who died in a Thanksgiving Day boating accident was a manager at one of the nation's leading research laboratories who was in Florida for a holiday dive trip with her nephew, authorities said Friday.

The Broward County Medical Examiner ruled Friday that Nina Poppelsdorf, 54, drowned after Thursday when a large wave flipped over a 45-foot catamaran carrying her and nearly two-dozen others.




Poppelsdorf was a leader of a Sandia team that helped in the response to the crisis at Japan's Fukushima nuclear plant after the March 2011 earthquake and tsunami left several reactors there without cooling water, Fong said. He also said Poppelsdorf was a certified diving instructor.

The Coral Princess is a Corinthian catamaran owned by South Florida Diving Headquarters in Pompano Beach. A phone message left Friday by The Associated Press for the owner of the boat was not immediately returned.

Three of the 23 people on the boat were treated and released. Most of them were from out of town on vacation, authorities said



The accident remains under investigation.

Research: Huge Underground 'Ocean' Found Beneath Asia; 'The Beijing Anomaly'


Michael E. Wysession, Ph.D., Washington University professor of earth and planetary sciences in Arts & Sciences, working with former graduate student Jesse Lawrence (now at the University of California, San Diego), analyzed 80,000 shear waves from more than 600,000 seismograms and found a large area in Earth's lower mantle beneath eastern Asia where water is damping out, or attenuating, seismic waves from earthquakes.

The traditional method seismologists use to image the Earth below us is to measure the speed of seismic waves. This will provide a sort of CAT scan of the Earth's core and mantle. Using wave speeds alone is a problem, however, because they cannot distinguish between temperature and composition variations.
