All tremor stations in the area and even half way across iceland are off the chart. Massive magma movements I assume.

Earthquake swarms in this area are perfectly normal. Check out 2004 and 1996. (or last month on a slightly smaller scale) Many other times in between too. This could continue for several hours or even days or it could just stop for a while and then continue a while longer until the sequence is over.

Hekla and Katla for that matter show no activity.

Considerable seismicity has been in the north tonight. Several skjállftanna have been about 4 or even up to 5 in size. Earthquakes have been detected include Akureyri, Husavik and Siglufjörður have books and articles from shelves collapsed.

A source indicator located on Siglufjörður says that the house he was in was skolfið and nötrað a major quake.

The announcement that Civil National Commissioner says that the Icelandic Meteorological Office believes that this is a continuation of skjáftavirkni cycle that started in September. The earthquake was felt widely in the north, from Sauðárkrókur Siglufjörður, Staircase, Dalvik, Akureyri, Husavik and the surroundings.

Civil Warnings are out, but no crises. The IMO is watching this closely, but no Volcanic activity is expected. Only news is Icelandic so far. visir.is and mbl.is
