But what happens when they screw up the Mormason handshake... we have all screwed up a regular handshake -- one finger gets left out, or some sort of vulan hand thing happens instead.

Honestly, after watching the video, it doesn't seem so bad. There is hardly a religion or social group out there that doesn't have some kind of ritual. If you are born into a particular religion, you normally follow what they do. just because you don't do the same thing doesn't mean they are inherently strange.

Look at the population as a whole - with regards to Christmas. Isn't that a pretty strange ritual? Just because it's mainstream it's OK to put all sorts of lights on your house, spend tons of money you don't have on gifts which you then claim came from a fat man in a red suit sitting in a sleigh pulled through the air by flying reindeer? And this man sneaks into your house in the dead of night by climbing down the fireplace?

How about Halloween, when you dress up like a dead person or witch and create havoc all over town, demanding treats, drinking orange brew containing frozen hand-shaped ice, eating ghost cookies, and smashing scary faced pumpkins?
