At what point in history do Protestants reject Christian Catholic teachings?

At the time of Constantine? Before? At the time of Luther?

Because the Catholic Church preserved and codified the bible YOU are using (with the exception of Maccabees which the Protestants reject because it contains passages about praying for the dead)
