"This year is already Britain’s 'strangest-ever' for weather,"

Somehow i highly doubt that "this years" weather has been the strangest since the island of Great Britain came into being after being split from mainland Europe sometime between 180,000 and 450,000 years ago!!!!!

stupid liberal greenie carbon tax hoarding fucks.

I was thinking of burning a few catholics to keep the chill off.

But then again, I'm an equal opportunities kind o' guy, so i wouldn't be averse to chargrilling a few protestants if it got cold enough.

"a mild winter last year"

I ski'd on the roads that got closed rockon

I've never seen snow and ground freeze like it in all my years in the UK. Its usually just generally cold, even more so with wind chill.

Norway have it right. I'd love to spend a year there

Looking forward to this winter

Re: UK Temperatures could plunge to below zero and bring snow in coming weeks...
so, what sort of thing do you do to prepare for a bad winter in the UK....i know as a country we suck when it comes to the weather...what with the wronge type of snow or the wronge type of rain etc...omg its a joke!!!

our country as a whole is unprepared...i sometimes think it would be a whole lot easier to prep if i lived in the USA or something like that...

so what do you guys do??...keeping in mind that alot of us dont have things like wood burners etc....i just think it would be nice to share ideas....

Home Emergency Kit

A home emergency kit is an essential part of preparing for storms, natural
disasters and other unforeseen events. You should also have a number of
items in the kit including but not limited to the following:

• Food items including canned food, ready-to-eat meals, or
• high-energy foods such as chocolate or energy bars.
• Enough drinking water for your entire family for at least 72 hours
• Baby food and formula (if baby in the household)
• Prescription drugs and other medicine
• First-aid kit
• Flashlight and extra batteries
• Battery-powered lamps or lanterns.

all tips welcome......

With a trend towards colder winters the real problem comes in a few years when electricity demand out paces supply thanks to the boom in inefficient renewable generation.

before any1 jumps down my throat...i know its an old artical...but there are people out there that may not have read it....not all of us have had our eyes opened as long as some of you ....

....just goes to show that regardless of what politicans or scientists say...no one can control mother nature...

It took just six months for a warm and sunny Europe to be engulfed in ice, according to new research.

Previous studies have suggested the arrival of the last Ice Age nearly 13,000 years ago took about a decade - but now scientists believe the process was up to 20 times as fast.

In scenes reminiscent of the Hollywood blockbuster The day After Tomorrow, the Northern Hemisphere was frozen by a sudden slowdown of the Gulf Stream, which allowed ice to spread hundreds of miles southwards from the Arctic.

Geological sciences professor William Patterson, who led the research, said: 'It would have been very sudden for those alive at the time. It would be the equivalent of taking Britain and moving it to the Arctic over the space of a few months.'

More likely when electricity demand exceeds customers budgets.
Inefficient wind turbines all in an effort to reduce CO2 that plants breathe.

Earlier this year they were going on about the drout as though we were going to run out of water altogether, but they never predicted the super wet summer that immediately followed it.

That's why i take all these forecasts with a large pinch of salt.

Days of thick fog, mist and cloud shrouding Britain are set to be blown away by Arctic winds that will freeze most of the country by the weekend.

Gritters are being readied to cope with a widespread cold-snap, with most of the UK expected to have frosts and Scotland and northern England told to prepare for snow.

The unseasonably warm weather, allowing some areas to enjoy temperatures of up to 20C during the day and no less than 10C at night, will be gone within 48 hours.

The first snow fell in England today as temperatures plummeted towards freezing making it a bitter start to the weekend.

Parts of England will be as cold as Moscow as temperatures plunge to -2C in the first cold snap of the season.

Autumn leaves were painted white with snowflakes in Northumberland, while the chill of winter hit large swathes of the country as the nights are set to go darker from Sunday when the clocks turn back.

Millions woke up to a stunning white Sunday morning as the first major snow fall of the winter hit the south of England last night.

While snow fell across the South and West Country, heavy rain in the South-East and East Anglia has sparked flood warnings while experts announced tomorrow will be the coldest Bonfire Night in 14 years.

Two inches of snow is predicted to fall today in Bath, Somerset. The Met Office reported 'heavy snow' in places as up to an inch of snow settled by morning on higher ground in Somerset, Dorset, Wiltshire and Devon
