Texas Brine Co. is to submit a plan to Louisiana's Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Saturday to permanently plug its vent well that is leaking hydrogen sulfide gas near the Assumption Parish sinkhole, according to company officials Wednesday.

Officials discovered that one of Texas Brine's two wells was letting hydrogen sulfide gas escape, Texas Brine officials said Wednesday.

I'm getting concerned about the seismic activity at the sinkhole. They have the vent wells shut in to build up pressure and one at the top of the cap rock is going to be plugged and abandoned. I believe this one is where the H2S was detected last week.
I hope the activity I'm seeing on the recorders is not caused by pressure build up. That could back fire on them, IMHO.

A friend of mine is in touch with Erin Brockovich's office and she sent me this information.
"Please have everyone in immediate evac area call Christopher Levinson at 818-991-8900. They are scheduling a town hall meeting for Saturday with experts and sinkhole info and more."
They have an environmental expert who is going to send her an email with more info. Will post it when I get it.

Guys, some of the seismos at the sinkhole have been down since yesterday afternoon. They are the ones closest to the hole. How convenient for them. Just when the seismic activity is really ramping up.

Good! If Texas Brine has any sense they'll be helping people relocate right now, regardless of concerns by their attorneys that it will appear to be admitting a problem, etc blah blah. It is way beyond obvious that there IS serious damage to the area's habitability and it will save some lives if the worst happens. I would think saving lives would lessen the eventual damages they will have to pay.
