This is good information thank you. I was looking for this. I have only glanced at it, but will study tomorrow.

My question is:

Are you concerned that the aquifer that supplies this area, as well as other states, may explode due to changes in water level or pressure due to the drought this past summer?
Also is there any truth to the rumor that oil may have been stored beneath the aquifer?

Thank you.

Here is a link to the gas pipelines in the US.
I really don't think it would be a good idea to drop a nuke in the sinkhole.
Would probably rip the country into two parts.

Guys, things just got a lot worse at the sinkhole down here.

This is less than 50% of the article:

Officials: Math doesn’t work; end to evacuation is unclear

The math isn’t adding up in Assumption Parish, and some parish officials are worried about what might be happening underground near a Bayou Corne area sinkhole.

State Department of Natural Resources scientists said they think a subterranean Texas Brine Co. salt cavern failed, allowing earth to partially fill the 2,250-foot-long vault and ultimately cause the sinkhole to form about 200 feet to the northwest of the cavern’s top.

Parish officials say the volume of the brine-filled sinkhole is much smaller than the amount of displaced earth now in the cavern, prompting worries about other unknown subterranean voids or gaps left in the area by the shifted sediments that could lead to further disturbance at the surface.

Boudreaux and Waguespack said it is their worry that the possible voids or gaps underground left by the 2.7 million cubic yards of earth that shifted could lead to sinkholes appearing in other locations.

This is not looking good. Has there been a worst case scenario done by these folks at Texas Brine?

I don't know, El Q, but I will try to find out. There is so little credible info coming out down here. The local news on WAFB will do a 20 or 30 second spot about it a couple of times a week.

I was mentioning this to people I know in Colorado and California, and they didn't know ANYTHING about the sinkhole, said they've heard nothing about it.

It is a very big deal to those who live around the area. Just ask all those folks who have had to leave their homes because of the ground tremors that broke foundations and cracked walls. Must be a big deal to the DHS, DEQ, etc because they are down there and yesterday USGS said they are putting out more seismic sensors in a much wider area.

The news black out is intentional. They don't know what's happening and they are afraid people would panic if there is a worse case scenario.

Just curious why you're posting on these threads if you're such a doubter? If you don't think it's a big deal, fine, why not leave it at that? But why would you try and interject such opinion among those who DO think it's a very, very big deal?

You're entitled to your opinion, but if you have not researched this top to bottom, left to right, then your opinion is based on nothing substantial. There are those of us who HAVE researched and we know that what's happening has the potential for extremely serious consequences for this entire nation.

Fukushima was a gigantic earthquake, tsunami and the nuke plant was destroyed and started meltdown. There was no way they couldn't report on that. It was just too huge. The sinkhole is a creeping disaster. Not enough circus for them YET.

I know . . . millions of people aren't even aware of this, but you know, I have to question how many would even care.

I'm in an area where there's been heavy gas drilling and I've recently educated myself about the whole process of drilling and what they do in fracking and the chemicals used and wow, it's a big concern . . . so I thought I'd mention some of what I've learned to a few neighbors and other people I know in this immediate area . . . and you know what? They don't care a darn about it! They listen as though they understand what I'm saying, but they've got this blank look of sheer, total apathy! And they either just say "well, not much we can do about it" or they move to another topic. So I've given up even trying to educate them and make them aware of what's happening.

So I guess it should be no surprise that so many just don't care about the BP, sinkhole, NMSZ issue and the potential ramifications for this country.

I live within the 500 mile radius of the sinkhole and about 20 miles north of the beach on the Gulf Coast. I am watching everything very closely and doing my own research, as well. I think there is a lot going on here, way too much for anyone to prognosticate on how 'quick' the 'doom' will be. My advice is to stay on top of things and listen to your gut. If you feel unsafe, then LEAVE! I would be very concerned living that close to this thing.

I will not fearmonger, but I do advise you to be alert.

I am busy compiling my 'case' to present to my loved ones, in La. so that when the time comes, I can lay it all out, in a clear and concise manner.

I am praying for you and everyone over there and for all of us who could be in harm's way...

Re: La Sinkhole Situation Just Got Much Worse! Update: Dangerous Hydrogen Sulfide Gas Detected, Seismic Activity Picking UP
I would suggest that those who haven't google Matt Simmons and watch some of his videos from the BP spill. He was a whistle blower at the time and met a very "strange" hot tub "heart attack" death.
This sinkhole mess is tied in to the debacle in the GOM. That is a very delicate ecosystem and BP screwed it up. The seabed is fractured and oil is still leaking out in various places.

Okay...

I am from Louisiana. I have since moved, but I still live on the Gulf Coast...well within the 500 mile radius of potential 'doom.' I have been 'lurking' on ALL of the threads pertaining to this catastrophe, because I have extended family in the area, who I am watching out for, as well as myself and my immediate family (who could be in danger should the unthinkable occur). I will admit that I did post a reply to the 'bunker' explosion, where I said that it was a munitions bunker explosion, citing the local news source.
I am rethinking that position!

Anyway...

If anyone is interested in the geological make-up of this part of La. I have some info that is quite interesting. There are fault lines ALL across southern Louisiana. There is also subsidence to factor in. The subsidence is minimal, however, it IS much more than they had previously thought. This was covered in one of the threads, with a link to how New Orleans is sinking faster than scientists and geologists previously thought.

If anyone wants to read this, it is well worth the time. This is FULL of invaluable information on how salt domes are formed, on how the faults run in the state, on the different geological factors at play that could have an impact on this, as well as sinkhole collapse.

I would love to discuss this with people who want to take the time to read this.

Re: La Sinkhole Situation Just Got Much Worse! Update: Dangerous Hydrogen Sulfide Gas Detected, Seismic Activity Picking UP
There was an article a couple of days ago on ENE or someplace else (can't remember) that said that the people still in the area of the sinkhole were presenting at clinics and doctors offices with the exact same symptoms that the people who were doing the BP spill clean up had reported. I'll see if I can find the article.

The news black out is intentional. They don't know what's happening and they are afraid people would panic if there is a worse case scenario.

bsflag thatisnot the reason, and you know it, and i know you know it, and now you know that i know you know i know it, and, yes, that scares me.- but then so does John 8:44 where Jesus was telling the Jews what he thought of them, and they murdered him for it. So should i think iam any safer than Jesus?- no.tounge

To me, it looks like the rainy season has started and the water pools up into that wetland area. Seems like you have more water than normal so some trees died and it has expanded a little bigger than normal.

This is probably because of some development around there forcing more water from one area to this specific area because it is a low area.

Bubbles happen because of peat moss decaying. This happens all the time as I live in Washington state where we have a lot of wet lands. Dry in the summer and then as it rains it looks just like these pictures and videos.

Day after day more PINS on this subject and nothing is happening. I watched the videos, looks like water run off to this area more than anything because no one is saying water is coming up from this hole. So where did the water come from.... It is just run off.

I will file a ....

Texas Brine is the company who might appreciate your brilliant comments.
Please go to Texasbrine.com and click on Bayou Corne sinkhole. Read. Now take into account that they would naturally spin information and reports to their advantage. If you can't that think that conspiracy could be afoot, then you are at the least, unimaginative. Sinkholes aren't uncommon. Sinkholes filled with surface water are not uncommon. Sinkholes whose contents include petroleum and gas of unknown origin are suspiciously worrisome. Further the culprit (cause) of the sinkhole in this case is the collapse of an underground salt cavern, which is used for the storage of gas and oil. Your ignorance and arrogance sir, is irritating.
