TV: Giant Louisiana sinkhole now 5.5 acres in size — “I didn’t think it had gotten that big” (VIDEO)

The TV broadcast uses the old August flyover clip in this report making it not look as bad as it currently really does.

Even though it was an old flyover, I am finding that these are actually very helpful. Here's why:

If you look closely at some of the longer flyover videos from very early, you will start to notice the wide swarths of dying trees WELL AWAY FROM the sinkhole itself - whose trees were still verdant green at this time. You will notice that the green circle of trees at the sinkhole have dying trees here and there beyond them, yet, close by. most OF THESE AREAS ARE NOW DEAD, DEAD, DEAD.

THE FOLLOWING VIDEOS ARE GOOD EXAMPLES; the August 9th I had brokne down on another thread, which can be accessed here: Thread: HUGE Louisiana sinkhole!!!! (Page 48)

Aug 13 Flyover [link to www.youtube.com] shows same advancing tree deterioration @ 0:29

Aug 23 Flyover 0:52 [link to www.youtube.com]
Right in the opening seconds of this video at 0:02, the area of dead trees can be seen across from the sinkhole area.

This is the general area that I suspect could be ground zero. Still photos from August 25th show sheens on waterways nearby, including suspect areas among the trees which must be saturated due to the shine of the SUN upon them, well away from the sinkhole.

As the copter gets closer 0:07, for a moment you can see that the line of dead/dying trees continues behind and away from the advancing sinkhole.

Still, the trees AROUND the sinkhole have yet to fade, even 3 weeks into this debacle. The sinkhole collapse and whatever chemicals it may have contained had not yet started to kill the trees directly surrounding the sinkhole...at least, any damage was not yet noticeable.

I suspect that the tree die-off around the sinkhole only occured once the land breech was sufficient enough to release whatever had been leaking across the pipeline road which then flooded the sinkhole with massive amounts of hydrocarbons or other, finally killing off the trees around the sinkhole proper.

The barriers that they installed to keep the hydrocarbons from flowing 'into other areas' may have actually stalled the hydrocarbons from flooding INTO the sinkhole area. Once you start looking at these photos with a new perspective, you'll notice oily sheens and other things which, in retrospect, do not compute.

0:38 & 0:48-0:51 You can see the dead areas I am referring to off in the distance, at the top of the screen. In the three weeks since the sinkhole was reported, that area went from ALREADY DYING to DEAD trees, while the trees at the sinkhole - here, on August 23rd - are still fairly viable looking, even though the sinkhole is clearly full of nasty stuff. Again, the still photos cover a much wider area; if you expand the shots to very close up, it is startling.

Sept 19 "Emergency Update" private video [link to www.youtube.com] Right from the beginning you can see the dead/dying areas AWAY from the sinkhole. The narrator sees the same dead area, yet, proposes that the sinkhole is STARTING TO AFFECT this area across the road, YET, I have shown that this was already evident when news of the sinkhole news was reported.

SOOOOOO....WHICH CAME FIRST?

Oct 02 Flyover [link to www.youtube.com] @ 1:06-1:13 trees well beyond are now DEAD, even though sinkhole has NOT reached that far. There are still GREENER trees AT the sinkhole

A FEW STILL SHOTS FROM AUGUST 25th, for illustration:

Sinkhole: [link to www.flickr.com]
Large wet area around my suspect area, across from sinkhole [link to www.flickr.com] Note the dying trees in between.
Oily sheen on water near my suspect area: [link to www.flickr.com] That platform is the same as in the last shot, while the area of fading trees is where the sun caught the moist area. This shot shows a waterway with oily substance on top.
Similar to many other shots: [link to www.flickr.com]

There are hundreds of other photos to look through, which I did last night.

Quite frankly, it was somewhat disconcerting just going through the ones from August 25th, when the sinkhole trees were still green, to reiterate this TELLING point. Those photos cover a very large area, areas well away from the sinkhole, on both sides of highway 70.

If anyone wants to know the potential for HOW FAR the sinkhole is likely to spread...these early photos have a lot to say. They are the baseline to be used. Now that everything is dead, they are invaluable. And, unnerving.
