Seriously thinking I'll go to Confession

What I will probably do is, talk to the priest first,
it has helped in the past, and I'm sure it will now.
I'm conflicted.

If it was easy to go...more people would...I went in '09 for first time in over 20 years...had alot to confess..I was scared...I went to the church I grew up in and there was a visiting Russian priest who looked like cross between Jesus and Rasputin...very strange...it felt almost supernatural

The ONLY confession you need is to confess to your Father in Heaven yourself. No priest can save you, only Jesus can.

That's true, we are taught to see ourselves as so blameless, as if it is only necessary to forgive yourself and you will be showered with all good things.

The priest here looks to be African, so no Rasputin for me, haha.

Why confess to a fellow sinner? will a priest forgive your sins?

Confess to the Lord in prayer and ask that the blood of Christ cover your sins.
And then..as the Lord said "Go and sin no more"

I do believe you have to forgive yourself to heal and let go. There is something in the act of getting up the courage to go and saying a confession to another person that makes it different than just saying it in your prayers - it humbles you. If you have been thinking about going, it will probably bother you more if you don't go. I believe you are truly sorry and wish the best.

You have to get beyond the emotional and unlock your heart..

This is how the church gets paid and gains power by people looking for some emotional release and forgiveness..

They can't do it, only love in your heart will do it..

The priest is probably a pervert playing with his pud as he's listening to you. God doesn't need some man mediating between you and Him. Just tell Him directly, He will listen. But approach God through His Son Jesus. Jesus is the only mediator between man and God.
