Quoting: Anonymous Coward 27008657 I'm making some aswell, right now my computer is rendering a movie which is taking 4 days I've always loved fractals since I was a kid but when they turned 3D it just blew my mind Great stuff. yea i mean i did a load of 2d fractals, but add the 3rd dimension and its addictive. Then just now I went through your thread and noticed that you are using Fragmentarium. I've tried sometime ago but the app and I didn't click. Now I seen what you do with it and went to download it and gave it a try. Since my GPU is old it made it crash right away when I tried some presets. This is cool, maybe exactly what I was missing. I'm very excited and I think I will go ahead and order a new GPU (GTX 660) for this project. I need raw GPU power for my movie project which I mentioned above Last Edited by Sundecoder on 11/14/2012 06:49 PM Believe Nothing - Question Everything |

ThesonofhendriX (OP) User ID: 1546575 United Kingdom 11/14/2012 07:13 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Oh btw! warning. Cearful with Nvidia cards.. They have started capping the double precision floating point performance of openCL, CUDA etc, as much as 1/24th. Unless you buy super expensive TESLA cards. I ran a benchmrak called CLbenchmark. and my HD7970 absolutely dominated the GTX690 by orders of magnitude in its results. ThesonofhendriX (OP) User ID: 1546575 United Kingdom 11/14/2012 07:15 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Yeah, i'm on a mac here (well it is hackintosh build on a PC system) so openGL is kinda native here. But my card is vintage (GT 8800) and most of the pics I'm trying out right now look as if they were rendered on a C64. I guess this crappy card is missing some of the features I need to render properly Quoting: Baconspiracist nothing here looks close to anything you've posted so far. try starting with the example - experimental -pseudoklenian DOF. I'll remember and will check deeper into that. Although I will probably need CUDA for some other projects. Believe Nothing - Question Everything |

ThesonofhendriX (OP) User ID: 1546575 United Kingdom 11/14/2012 07:46 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | btw here are the exact perameters for that last image. [link to www.sendspace.com] its a parameters file. drop it in the fragmentarium folder. In fracmentarium load up the experimental pseudokleinian DOF example. Then click parameters>load from file and select it. click continuous so it keeps accumulating frames or you wont get the depth of field effect. press manual when you have enough frames. Life is a dream and we are the imagination of ourselves. |
ThesonofhendriX (OP) User ID: 1546575 United Kingdom 11/14/2012 07:56 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | [link to www.imagebam.com] You have to appreciate that these renders are taking all of about 3 mins. With depth of field, anti aliasing, ambient occlusion, ray tracing, tone mapping etc. I did try Mandelbulb 3d recently, but when realized how slow it was even on my overclocked 3570k i could not fathom why the developers would want to go with CPU code. Big mistake for them i think.. i checked the latest version and it has only a very limited gpu support. Life is a dream and we are the imagination of ourselves. |

Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 1546575 United Kingdom 11/28/2012 07:04 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I didn't think of it before . . We' ve previously been looking at the very order of mother nature . . perhaps the whole construct, in stupid 2D. Many thanks OP for those amazing images... Really thought provoking. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 24011285 Yea i found it interesting because the maths for these 3d fractals has only very recently been discovered, and the computation power only very recently been available to even draw them. I would love to have some kind of true 3D Virtual Reality setup to fly around these things. Im desperately waiting for the developers of fragmentation to introduce proper animation so i can render videos. |
