Really bad knee pain, any ideas?
Not to be whiney, but my left knee hurts like hell. Been over a week now, swelling behind the knee, very stiff and hurts a lot to walk up and down stairs. My own diagnosis is a Bakers (popliteal) cyst. Don't want to go to dr. any alternative remedies or ideas are greatly appreciated!

Take Stinging Nettle. Available at any health food store or GNC. All natural effective anti inflamitory. I too suffer from knee pain from an old injury. Nothing works better for me than stinging nettle. Start with two capsules with a full glass of water. Guaranteed relief!!

Torn Meniscus - you will need arthroscopic surgery to repair it, as the meniscus is cartilage without circulation and cannot heal itself.

Been there, experienced that - the pain will drive you to the surgical solution, which will indeed make it all better. Except for healing the small arthro incisions, you will come out of surgery essentially pain-free and ready to run a marathon. Seriously.

Also other suggestions in the thread.

try the cheapest thing first then work your way through the list, keep a journal of what works.

NO NO NO.

check with your doctor first. and get second opinion.

Surgery is the last LAST LAST LAST choice you should consider.

Complications from surgery are quite common.

Surgery is usually expensive, and only recommended for monetary gain by the surgeons and hospitals.

Try all the methods you can do by yourself first.

Cutting during surgery will create scar tissue which will need cut out again after a few years. (thus the hamster wheel of income for the hospitals)

I don't know about the torn Meniscus. I'm thinking more Bakers cyst. I want to avoid surgery totally.

I've seen many bad results from knee surgery. And knee replacement? I'd never do that. And you're right about the hamster wheel.

OP i must disclaim, check with your doctor. (even though i hate most doctors with thier pills and unneeded surgeries)

yeah, you can just get hot water in a bowl with a wash cloth, put the epsom salt in, and then take hot salt wash cloth and apply directly to the knee. repeat as needed.

or just do a bath with the salts in the bath water.

Flax oil may be helpful too.

My experience is with an Multiple Sclerosis Patient and My own body.

The combination of the Flax oil (usually eaten with potatoe, or vegetable stir fry or other recipe available all over internet) has improved the MS patients overall quality of life 30% or more. WOW that is pretty good for a few bucks worth of salt and oil every month.

Good luck. My first inclination from you Original post is that this is a pretty serious problem.

You should be very careful and try eveything slowly and pay very close attention to what is working.

Also, you must improve your diet. if it is not good.

cut out meats or at least NO red meat for a month. Eat whole Apple, Fruits, Steamed Potatoe or Rice or Soy Bean or other whole Food.

Nothing from a can or a box for 3 months.

Trust your self only. If what I say doesn't jive with you INSIDE, then forget it and move on to next choice.

Good luck. you can heal yourself. Remember?
