Rumsfeld represents the America we knew and they are being told it's over for America. An ally from without had to tell them because they couldn't see what was happening within.

As strong as they appear in their uniforms (representing the APPARENT strength of the U.S.'s military) it was over instantly and they knew there was not chance.

So shall it be for America--in an instant it shall be over for us without any resistance. See Revelation 17.
