BRIEF User ID: 381742 United States 10/25/2012 08:58 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Why do magnets have a + and a - end? Quoting: Goodseed Is it because the + end has more electrons that flow to the - end with less electrons(or is it the opposite?) Where does a lodestone(a naturally occuring magnet) come from. How does the lodestone become magnetised? All you need to do is get the electrons to line up in one direction...hematite is formed from molten rock during volcanic activity and when it cools the electrons are frozen in one direction...you can take a nail or bolt and magnetize it with a powerful magnet by dragging it one way to get the electrons to line up. I never forgive and I never forget I am a licensed firearm holder. I will, under protection of law, use lethal force if attacked. |

Top Hat Top Hat User ID: 10235814 United States 10/25/2012 09:17 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The how is the why to your question, OP. Try Google. It's a great tool. In natural magnets, in every atom of the metal, electrons are all spinning around the atom, but they also rotate (Like many earths around the sun). Since all of the electrons that revolve around the atom rotate in the same direction, they build up charges (magnetic charges) at each end of the metal. This results in a positive and negative pole per magnetic metal. |
