Twenty pages into What's Your Poo Telling You?, I came across a funny description of a type of bowel movement the authors called "Poo-phoria". This bowel movement causes a person to experience euphoria and ecstasy as they pass a very large stool. The authors explain that "poo-phoria" usually leads to a feeling of exhilaration, intense relaxation, and even goose bumps. It's generally a very safe way to feel "high." though some people can get addicted to the experience.

The authors further state that the "high" feeling comes from stimulation of the vagus nerve, which is the tenth of twelve cranial nerves. As a very large bowel movement passes through the rectum, the vagus nerve fires. When the vagus nerve is stimulated, it usually causes a sudden drop in blood pressure and heart rate. Mild stimulation of the vagus nerve produces that "high" Richman and Sheth write about in their description of "Poo-phoria". However, if the vagus nerve is more intensely stimulated during a bowel movement, it can lead to what's known as defecation syncope.

hmm heard you talk about it before but never really thought if it. Never had it run down the spine though. Only in the scalp as i can recall.

Wow I think I actually had this once during an eye exam. When My eye doctor who is attractive was using eye drops to dilage my pupils.

That one you posted in OP has been the most effective AV way of acheiving this effect. I get the same feeling if recieving a head masssage, especially using an Indian head massager.

Had feeling like this when I'm really baked too, if I concentrate I can make my mind go blank and almost dreamlike but intense at the same time, I can usually hold the feeling for about a minuite before having to snap back to reality. This only works when I'm 'reeeeeeeeeeeall fuckin high' though.

I get that feeling if I feel like someone is giving me 100% care and attention, smoothly and calmy. I feel it. Used to get it at the doctor all the time, but not so much anymore cuz I think i realize how much they dont really care that much, idk.

never put too much thought into it but i know what you are talking about. the only time i get it is if i am getting a scalp massage. its a very intense sensation that sends me almost into a trance like state and it is almost impossible for me to fight it. sometimes also get it when someone is putting their hands through my hair.

I never knew what this was called. I used to get this when I was a kid getting my hair cut. It also happens when someone is showing me attention or doing something nice for me. Only when they really mean it, however. I don't get it if they really don't care. It's such a nice feeling :)

Crazy! Never thought I'd see something about this. Ever since I was a kid, I have loved when this happens to me. It usually happens when somebody is either borrowing something useful from me and using it, or if a teacher or instructor is giving me personal one on one. Great feeling.

"goosebumps" is the threshold feeling of ASMR. total ASMR is much more intense.

and it is very much akin to the feeling of orgasm.
