I do not hate dubstep, however I do hate that all dubstep post-skrillex has to sound like it came from skrillex...

I'm pretty sure the definition is in the beat pattern...d'n'b goes kick, snare, kick kick snare...dubstep goes snare kick kick, snare, kick

As soon as it drops is sounds like all the other skrillex clone stuff out there today... If you cannot hear this, you need to clean out your earholes.

IMO Dubstep peaked in 2009 and has been steadily going downhill since because of people trying to get a slice of that skrillex ultra-fame by copying his style.

Not just the pattern, but the tempo as well, most DnB is up around 176 bpm, where dubstep is a leisurely 145 or so.

Somewhat, but the tempo is a larger factor. Nobody would call a song at 176 bpm which has a 'dubstep-like' pattern dubstep, because it is simply too fast. Heres an example where Cookie Monsta switches up between dubstep and dnb during a song:

Lol Dude I've actually chilled with Skrillex and he would bust a nut if he heard you comparing this to his beats... Kdrew uses Synth Pattern and Bass drops that match the pattern meaning it's based on the synth of the song.

Skrillex is reversed the song depends on the bass patterns for it's foundation.

Whoa, you chilled w/ skrillex? You MUST be an expert on musical theory! I've chilled w/ dozens of international dj's of various genres (house, d'n'b, psy-trance, hip-hop, etc.) over the last 15 years...the pattern definitely has A LOT to do with classification.
