Is it time to re-think eugenics?
After watching the following documentary on eugenics, I think the attitude I came away with is the opposite of what the creators intended. It seems to me that in this day and age, people are breeding FOR failure of the human race, and are not thinking at all about what their decisions mean for the future.

If a 'mentally challenged' couple wants to have babies, for every 1 person against it there are 1000 people who want to let them do as they please. This kind of behavior is degrading the entirety of the human genome, just look at the hordes of low IQ burden-to-society people around the globe, which are reproducing faster than ever...

Sure back in the early 1900's the methods of choosing who is fit to breed and who is not was, shall we say, less than an exact science, and maybe even barbaric. However with today's advances in genetics, and the ability to relatively easily identify detrimental genes, I see more reason than ever for a re-evaluation of eugenics.

Should people who have genes which cause downs syndrome have babies? Should people who are genetically predisposed to psychosis reproduce? I understand that these decisions are hard to make and leave open very real issues of racism and discrimination, but in the end do we keep going like we are at the expense of our very species, or do we make the hard decisions for a better future of mankind?

It is, to me, sad how fast people forget the FOUNDATIONS of our fine country! This country was built by an armed population capable of fending for themselves, and will be lost by couches full of potato-sheeple riding their 52" HD-LEDTV's into the orwellian sunset. :(

Eugenics is a great idea that is still practiced by everyone whether admitted or not.

It has slowly been replaced with modern technology such as " custom " Babies and what not. They now use Genetic Engineering to accomplish the same goal.

Eugenics should have been the standard for the last century or so. But... No.... Cant have that.

While watching the doc, I could not help but wonder about the connections between the eugenics practices back then and the rise in life expectancy in the later 1900's, and then the falling out of eugenics causing our recent downturn in life expectancies?

Well, that changed after what Hilter had done. I suppose that's why liberals hated him so much...

When you have a racist like Margaret Sanger starting Planned Parenthood as a way to keep black population down, it'd bound to look bad on you.

Now we have technology to reduce numbers of disabled kids that would save them a lot of money in the long run. We will eventually get there but liberals will ruin it like they always do. I prefer libertarian/conservative ways as they have proved to be more accurate and right on a lot of things.

Spot on, and a lot of people that is on the dole is breeding for the children or family benefits.

A lot of this are :african: or people that for religious reasons feel compelled to have a large offspring but gives a rat ass about the education or development of their children.

Hitler and his cronies turned what should have been a valid area of scientific research and debate into an emotion laden topic that is virtually forbidden as a subject of public debate. The moment the word "eugenics" is mentioned, otherwise intelligent people, lose all control of their rational faculties and start braying like donkeys.

It wasn't just practiced back in the 1900 it went into the 60s.

There is no 'science' guided by men that is capable of playing GOD.

Because, if GOD wills it, he will intercede and eliminate detrimental genetics for the good of mankind?

GOD does not keep retarded people from having retarded babies, MAN does by sterilizing the retards or preventing them from mating with other retards. (A bit blunt, maybe, but sometimes bluntness is the only way to get a point across...)

it's not over yet...they are conducting this test still as we speak...look at the environment..the food we eat ....the chemicals being used.........and so on..

it's the next step in a scientific process......

the research(is you and everyone else).....

they already know what can happen if do this ...in order for that to occur.....
(nazis gather this prior.....and used ...and continuing to do so at a grand scale)
now....that that research is done....now it's place in a societal setting.....again still the next step in research...they are looking at the survival concept....and the conditioning of not knowning of it's true orgins..especially when it comes to dieases, viruses, etc.

and then ....acceptance......... just the way peole have come to the point of accepting .....evolution.

Eugenics means working with what is there naturally. What you are talking about is active change of genetic make up by gene manipulation and modification.

Eugenics is what humans used to make cows and chickens. Xenomorphism is how we get roses that glow in the dark.

Yes, and it has all been lumped together under the moniker of ''Transhumanism''.
