Catholic Church says wives should encourage their husbands to become deacons | |

In these churches it just means you are the door greeter and help pass out any papers, collect offerings. Maybe the RC just wants the wives to get their men more into the church. Mo money! |

They can also assist a priest during a church service but can not conduct the service on their own. Deacons can not marry people and they aren't considered to be "greeters" at the door. |

I think they may also take a vow to become a Priest if their wife ever passes away. I've always had a lot of respect for Deacons. They assist a Priest during mass and are allowed to do the Homily during the service. (Homily is a short talk given to the parishioners following the 3 readings that are taken from the Bible. They speak for about 15-20min relating the scripture to what it should mean for us in this day and age). So this help saves the Priest a lot of time and preparation, as some Priests May have to perform mass 10x in a week, not to mention weddings, Baptisms, etc. Neither tell you whom to vote for. (Sometimes I wish they would, since some don't understand the importance). May God Bless Deacons and Priests all over the world. |
