He´s never giving up. He was tested so many times and always chose to do this, to walk the golden path, he wasn´t impressed by anything cause he knew from the beginning, if he only believes, then he can go there, he can reach out..
And when there is even not a bit of hope on the horizon, that´s not a cause for him, this is not convincing.
He himself had to become hope, to overcome this and now he is willing to carry this hope into the world.
He protected it with all of his heart since the beginning, nothing could´ve ever harmed it.
He has every reason to not do it and that´s why he will do it. He will turn this place around. He will do it to prove that love is unbreakable.

I think he recognizes the pattern of this whole universe in every way, in every book and every human is a book for him to and every stone tells the greatest story ever told to him and he just listens to all of creation and thinks "yes, this is great and beautiful".
