Was General Ham Relieved for Attempting Benghazi Rescue?
I heard a story today from someone inside the military that I trust entirely. The story was in reference to General Ham that Panetta referenced in the quote below.

quote:
“(The) basic principle is that you don’t deploy forces into harm’s way without knowing what’s going on; without having some real-time information about what’s taking place,” Panetta told Pentagon reporters. “And as a result of not having that kind of information, the commander who was on the ground in that area, Gen. Ham, Gen. Dempsey and I felt very strongly that we could not put forces at risk in that situation.”

The information I heard today was that General Ham as head of Africom received the same e-mails the White House received requesting help/support as the attack was taking place. General Ham immediately had a rapid response unit ready and communicated to the Pentagon that he had a unit ready.

General Ham then received the order to stand down. His response was to screw it, he was going to help anyhow. Within 30 seconds to a minute after making the move to respond, his second in command apprehended General Ham and told him that he was now relieved of his command.

The story continues that now General Rodiguez would take General Ham’s place as the head of Africon.

I found this story when I got home after hearing this story.

quote:
President Barack Obama will nominate Army Gen. David Rodriguez to succeed Gen. Carter Ham as commander of U.S. Africa Command and Marine Lt. Gen. John Paxton to succeed Gen. Joseph Dunford as assistant commandant of the Marine Corps, Defense Secretary Leon Panetta announced.

As I was typing this I heard John Bolton on Greta say that there are conflicting reports of General Ham’s comments on this tragedy and why a rapid response unit was not deployed. Bolton says someone needs to find out what Ham was saying on 9/11/12.

More:

It also appears that the carrier strike group commander of the region has also been relieved of command:

[link to www.stripes.com]

That would be consistent with having launched strike aircraft in defiance of a stand down order. That would ALSO be consistent with the report that operators on the roof were using a laser target designator.

If these reports are true, this is a scandal of huge proportion.

I can understand Ham being relieved of command, although I dont like it one damn bit.

The HNIC decided who would die that day and refused our military the CHANCE to go get them or respond.

In my mind, you dont break orders just because you dont like the order given. There are other ways to handle things like this. Ham could have spilled the beans WITHOUT the specter of his being relieved of command and created a political shitstorm for "O". By him breaking those orders he likely wont be able to tell his side of the story without looking like he was anti-Obama.

If it turns out that our president had arranged for the Ambassador to be kidnapped in the hopes of releasing the blind shiek, as was implied in another thread, I hope hell itself is released upon his ass.

Notice Romney is silent on Benghazi? This will come out later this week so why attack your adversary when he's cutting his own throat?

Also see video of Panetta talking about insufficient intelligence and watch General Dempsey in background. Dempsey knows so his body language was like a squirming worm that did not want to be there.

Insufficient evidence my ass - that ain't going to fly for long!

The Ambassodor would have told them straight off 'we are under a full scale attack - send some help'

Plus there are the Seals at the safe house.

They are trying to tell you that for 7 hrs a US Ambassador was under attack by terrorist.......................and they just sat there for 7 hrs twiddling their thumbs wthout lifting so much as a finger, because welll they wern't quite fully sure of exactly what might be going on - BULLSHIT BULLSHIT BULLSHIT!!!!

Ask yourself why Democrats were strongly pushing early voting? This will come out sooner or later they want people to vote for Obama before this hits the news. Meanwhile republicans are making sure they have all ducks in a row before they hurl accusations as this is a million times worse then watergate and the I s must all be dotted and t s crossed before they proceed. Looks like this is starting to hit Internet news sources now but not major ones yet

Look for Hillary Clinton to break ties and step down just before election. If you see this you will know information on Benghazi will be released in a day or two. I suspect she is turning to preserve what chances she has of a Government career. Presidency chances for her are now over and she is probably negotiating her future. Pancetta goes, Dempsey goes, Petraeus goes and Obama loss.

The request for support could only have been denied by a handful of people at the top. Hillary & Obama may well have made the decision together. Panetta & Dempsey are yes-men. Nobody is sure what Petraeus' angle is.

Mostly thanks to being the largest debtor nation in history.
