Could that be sand being blown out into the sea? If not, it's smoke of some sort... hiding

other thread said they're burning crop lands. but that sounds like a lie. never seen that before in the south and my family owns thousands of acres of farm land. those look like plumes.

South Louisiana sugar cane farmers definitely burn in the fields and are doing so at this time of the year. My husband is a cane farmer and burned some old stubble last week.

I live near one of those plumes shown on the map. I saw the smoke this evening behind my house. Figured it was just a marsh fire. Nothing unusual.
It is precisely because it is fashionable for Americans to know no science, even though they may be well educated otherwise, that they so easily fall prey to nonsense. They thus become part of the armies of the night, the purveyors of nitwittery, the retailers of intellectual junk food, the feeders on mental cardboard, for their ignorance keeps them from distinguishing nectar from sewage. — Isaac Asimov

Along the coastal areas in Texas, crop land after harvest is sometimes burned. It's good for the soil.
Also, along the coast, the marshes are burned once a year. I don't recall exactly when we used to be socked in by the smoke and fog, but it's likely that's what they are doing.
