7.7 QUAKE Canada

Would people who live in north west Washington be affected by a tsunami or damage from this 7.7 quake?

Right at 4 pm Eastern I had to pull over and walk off a feeling of vertigo that very suddenly hit me! Weird!

So far so good. I am on Sunshine Coast (very south west BC). Couple blocks uphill from beachfront. No warning sirens or anything.

This 7.7 is the 3rd largest in Canadian History. We had a 9.0 more than 300 years ago, and an 8.1 Mag 63 years ago also in the Queen Charlotte Island area.

wheres the sue-nami? noting going to happen. this earthquake was not a big deal peoples. could have been, but coulda-woulda-shoulda doesnt count.

Seismologist John Cassidy on the phone with CBC now. Said the aftershocks were relatively small. Doesn't think the tsunami will be severe because of the type of earthquake. Worried about localized underwater landslides producing large waves.

Yet... The tsunami warning has been extended to Washington. Just reported.

You can't just brush off what just took place. I counted 3, m7.0+ earthquakes in Masset Canada in less than 3 hours. This is also the strongest earthquake in the area in 63 years!
