Nothing out of the ordinary, Japan shook for over a year after their big one.
 Quoting: Kaynos

except this quake WASN'T a big one.

it was at least 30 times smaller than the jap quake

Japan had a similar sized quake to this one just before it's big one though

notice how all the QUEEN CHARLOTTE ISLANDS REGION quakes, the 7.7 and all aftershocks have been around 10km deep, this changed today when there was a 15km deep 5.1 quake at 16:17 UTC today, all was quiet for a few then the 6.4 hit at 8km deep, but now the after shocks from that are deeper!
a 5.4 @ 32km deep and a 5.1 @ 47km deep

the Queen Charlotte fault, where the earth's plates slide horizontally across each other in a strike-slip action, similar to what happens along California's San Andreas fault.

tsunami warning was shortlived because the strike-slip movement along the fault doesn't generally trigger tsunamis.

"To trigger a tsunami you need to have a vertical movement of the sea floor, and it's that vertical movement that displaces water and triggers the tsunami," he said. "Because it's sliding across each other, you're not generally moving the water."

nope

a full point equals 10 times the shaking and 31.6 times the energy release

so 8.9 compared to 7.7 is 30 to 40 times the shaking and about 200 times the energy release

i think

That is entirely possible. I'd really like to see the 3d image of quake depth and pattern from deep to shallow. We used to say that a house is secure if the foundation holds. This quake swarm is loosening up the foundation to the floorboards though.

On Mar 9, 2011 M7.3 hit the Tohuku region followed by several M7.4

Mar 11, 2011 we all remember the M9.0 Tohuku Megaquake & Tsunami - This happened 51 hours after the first foreshock.

Yesterday I was fairly calm because there was a natural decline in the intensity of the original M7.7

Today we're getting M6.4 & M6.3

This COULD BE a FORESHOCK WARNING SEQUENCE although technically it has not surpassed the original M7.7 temblor, so it still could very well be 'normal' aftershocks

The only recent foreshock measurement we have in modern times is the Tohuku example

The Cascadia Subduction Zone is almost identical to the Tohuku Subduction Zone - the difference is the Queen Charlotte Area that's going off right now is actually quite north of the CSZ but still near enough to be concerned

So add 51 hours to the original temblor of Mar 27 20:04 Pacific Time

You get 23:04 Mar 29 - So Monday 11PM Pacific is the danger time - Let's hope it passes with no event.

Up until the 6.3 i would have thought the same but according to earthquake experts up here the likelihood of a larger quake go down after an after shock of 1 magnitude less than the large quake.

This is what had the experts so worried last night, they were not seeing the drop of 1 magnitude.

Yeah you have to wonder whats going on right there... Maybe there's a large volcano trying to erupt on the sea floor there?
Or maybe the North American plate is slipping over the Pacific Plate.
