Pretty simple really... Jesus came to serve man - not to be worshiped. No offense, but have you actually read the words of Jesus? Sounds like you have been brainwashed by religion.

really ignorant statement. really ignorant.

maybe in catholic seminary there is brainwashing. there would have to be in order to teach such a twisted version of scripture.

but, i am in protestant seminary.

hint: there are tons of history classes at seminary. tons.

I've never been to seminary, so I enjoy reading OP's posts and seeing her spiritual journey here. But I have several friends who have either completed seminary or are currently enrolled. Everyone says that their seminary experiences are a "stripping away" of what others have told them or what they themselves may have assumed without a lot of thought. It is like burning away the dross to find the gold that remains.

And, sadly, some students didn't have a lot of gold to start with. In their cases, they probably left as non-Christians though some follow other spiritual paths.

The idea of the trinity is a false doctrine created and perpetuated by man .And the idea is not even compatible with the original languages of the Bible .Because the language is much more complicated than English. And the original manuscripts have no concept of the trinity.

Re: Why does Jesus refer to Himself as the "son of man" and not the "son of God"?
THE Bible teaching that God is one is called monotheism. And L. L. Paine, professor of ecclesiastical history, indicates that monotheism in its purest form does not allow for a Trinity: "The Old Testament is strictly monotheistic. God is a single personal being. The idea that a trinity is to be found there ... is utterly without foundation."

Was there any change from monotheism after Jesus came to the earth? Paine answers: "On this point there is no break between the Old Testament and the New. The monotheistic tradition is continued. Jesus was a Jew, trained by Jewish parents in the Old Testament scriptures. His teaching was Jewish to the core; a new gospel indeed, but not a new theology.... And he accepted as his own belief the great text of Jewish monotheism:'Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God is one God.'"

Those words are found at Deuteronomy 6:4. The Catholic New Jerusalem Bible (NJB) here reads: "Listen, Israel: Yahweh our God is the one, the only Yahweh."* In the grammar of that verse, the word "one" has no plural modifiers to suggest that it means anything but one individual.

The Christian apostle Paul did not indicate any change in the nature of God either, even after Jesus came to the earth. He wrote: "God is only one."—Galatians 3:20; see also 1 Corinthians 8:4-6.

Thousands of times throughout the Bible, God is spoken of as one person. When he speaks, it is as one undivided individual. The Bible could not be any clearer on this. As God states: "I am Jehovah. That is my name; and to no one else shall I give my own glory." (Isaiah 42:8) "I am Yahweh your God ... You shall have no gods except me." (Italics ours.)—Exodus 20:2, 3, JB.

Why would all the God-inspired Bible writers speak of God as one person if he were actually three persons? What purpose would that serve, except to mislead people? Surely, if God were composed of three persons, he would have had his Bible writers make it abundantly clear so that there could be no doubt about it. At least the writers of the Christian Greek Scriptures who had personal contact with God's own Son would have done so. But they did not.

Instead, what the Bible writers did make abundantly clear is that God is one Person—a unique, unpartitioned Being who has no equal: "I am Jehovah, and there is no one else. With the exception of me there is no God." (Isaiah 45:5) "You, whose name is Jehovah, you alone are the Most High over all the earth."—Psalm 83:18.

That's a good way to illustrate how easy it is to be drawn in to a belief based on a few strung together "facts."

The best (or worse) exegesis example I ever heard about was the preacher in the 1920s or 1930s who was against women wearing their hair up in a bun called a "top knot." And he would get on the radio preaching that this was a sin and the Bible said so. He would quote scripture saying, "Top knot come down.... top knot come down. That's in the Bible: Matt. 24:17. So do as scripture commands you..."

But when you read that passage it says: "Let him who is on the house top not come down to take anything out of his house."

The difference between the true Church that began at Jerusalem and the Catholic Nico-Latins is the Oneness Monarchian Message.

Few realize that the trinity doctrine that was adopted at the Council of Nicaea and thereafter molded into several Creeds , descends from Mystery Babylon via Greek philosophy in Plato's theories, and from Jewish Gnosticism, not from the Bible.

Yet the Catholics all teach, that if a person does not believe in the trinity doctrine of Mystery Babylon, that person can not be saved. According to them, you and I can not be saved unless we believe Greek philosophy and Jewish Gnosticism that has reinterpreted God different from how God identified himself.

This is wrong. Jesus did not ordain philosophers or Gnostic mystics, he ordained Apostles to be the authorities of Church doctrine. One great difference between the Arians, the Trinity-arians, Greek Plato philosophy, Mystery Babylon, and the true Apostolic Christians, is the Oneness Monarchian Message.

ll Pagan religions from the time of Babylon, have adopted in one form or another a trinity doctrine or a triad or trinity of gods. In Babylon it was Nimrod, Semiramas, and Tammuz; In Egypt it was Osiris, Isis, and Horus; within Israel pagan gnosticism it was Kether, Hokhmah, and Binah; In Plato's philosophy it was the Unknown Father, Nous/Logos, and the world soul. But in Old Testament Judaism there was only One God, a numerical ONE. The difference between paganism and God's people has always been the Oneness Monarchian Message reinforced by the First Commandment that prohibits any theory of a plurality.

Re: Why does Jesus refer to Himself as the "son of man" and not the "son of God"?
...

I noticed that no-one has attempted to address the queries I put in the above post.

Now of course you may be away researching about why Jesus would say Matthew 8:58 Jesus said to them: Amen, amen I say to you, before Abraham was made, I am. and I would love to hear your responses.

BUT another problem for believers just came to mind.

When Jesus was baptised this happened

Matthew 3:16-17 And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him:

And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

This is GOD stating that Jesus is his son! Loudly and Clearly!

But interestingly Jesus didn't have the holy spirit within him prior to this event?

The question then needs to be asked. When did Jesus know he was the "Son of God"?

After this Jesus goes into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.

This too has problems.

How does a being so low as Satan tempt GOD? And can GOD really be tempted?

Well according to the Bible the answer is yes and yet that is quite illogical.

The temptations

Bread for his hunger - Well I am sure GOD doesn't need bread.

Casting himself down - Well GOD can stop himself hitting the pavement, surely.

Now these first two are absurd but the last one is unbelievable.

All the kingdoms of the world - Jesus who knows he is at least the Son of GOD or GOD depending on who you believe already knows he owns all the kingdoms of the world. There is no temptation!

These are temptations thrown at GOD by Satan and are complete rubbish.

BUT

According to the Bible there was a time when Satan tempted GOD and GOD took the temptation.

It is in the story of JOB.

Job 1 6-12

Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan came also among them.

And the Lord said unto Satan, Whence comest thou? Then Satan answered the Lord, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it.

And the Lord said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil?

Then Satan answered the Lord, and said, Doth Job fear God for nought?
(the temptation)

Hast not thou made an hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side? thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land.

But put forth thine hand now, and touch all that he hath, and he will curse thee to thy face.

And the Lord said unto Satan, Behold, all that he hath is in thy power; only upon himself put not forth thine hand. So Satan went forth from the presence of the Lord.
(the acceptance of the temptation)

Now there are three massive problems with this story.

1. This suggests GOD actually does get tempted, and by his arch enemy Satan!

2. How many INNOCENT people suffer due to this EGO fight between GOD and Satan?

3. This story totally undermmines the omniscience of GOD!

Afterall, an omniscient GOD would have known the outcome of JOB being tested and no-one needed to suffer.

These things need to be considered by believers.

They simply don't make any sense. Any thoughts?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1190661

God can not do anything that is in contradiction to what is good, this is how thou shall know what is from God which is good and what was altered through Satan which is evil, for scriptures contain also deceptions as well and it takes the eye of beholder to know which is which.

Behold the story of job as it written and interpeted by man is deception, there was no event of Satan making a bet with God.
 Quoting: Spiritoftruth 26530436

See this makes sense Spiritoftruth - People are always saying GOD is perfect and yet all the lessons they teach show imperfection.

I am very tough on Moses because he did so many horrendous things that undermine the concept of a loving, perfect GOD.

I want to break open the Bible and sort the charf from the wheat to know the truth.

As I have said elsewhere... My test is that of Omniscience... If something undermines the omniscience of GOD then it can't be true!

You claim to follow Yeshua and reject Moses yet Yeshua was in perfect union with Moses. Moses was only the Prophet of God, bringing the people the holy law of God, the Torah. You are seriously erring to the right and to the left. The scriptures are our foundation and without the old, there would be no new testament since the two are interwoven.

Here is some verses showing that Yeshua was pro-Moses and fully accepted him.

Matthew 23:2-3

23 Then spake Jesus to the multitude, and to his disciples,

2 Saying The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses' seat:

3 All therefore whatsoever they bid you observe, that observe and do; but do not ye after their works: for they say, and do not.

He saith unto them, Moses because of the hardness of your hearts suffered you to put away your wives: but from the beginning it was not so. Matthew 19:8

And, behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elias talking with him. Matthew 17:3

I will pray for you Brother.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 26797763

Please don't pray for me... To do so without my permission would be to break a spiritual law.

The fact that Jesus mentions MOSES makes no difference to me whatsoever. Moses misrepresented GOD continually.

The fact that the Pharisees sit on Moses' seat probably shows why it is Moses' seat!

I am not a follower of Yeshua and as many verses were added to the Bible by scribes and we are learning from copies of copies and doctored copies, I wouldn't rely on things that don't make sense.

Really? And what spiritual law would that be? I only recognize the Holy Law of God Almighty, the Holy Torah. So you are a Christian if I can even call you that who picks and chooses what to believe in the Bible? Really Man, that is not a good path to be on. As I said before, you will fall from the Righteous path if you do not correct and acknowledge the errors of your way. A war criminal? Really? That is preposterous. Have you even read the old testament fully and do you understand how evil the Canaanites were? It was Righteous Judgement dammit! God let them reach a certain point in their wickedness till he would let the Israelites come in and give them the land. Yes, some of it seems harsh but the World back then was very harsh and violent, much much worse than today. And the only reason God instructed them to exterminate the Canaanites was so the Israelites could have peace and so the Canaanites would not be a frequent thorn in their sides. It was the only way. But make no mistake, you are not judging Moses but God Almighty in his Judgements and who are you to do such a thing since you get your very conscience from God himself. Personally I think you are wasting your time with your beliefs unless there is a chance that you will see sense and repent. As I said, I will pray for you because you need prayer and guidance. I will leave you with a very important verse.

The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? Jeremiah 17:9

Trust the word of God and not your own Judgements.

Re: Why does Jesus refer to Himself as the "son of man" and not the "son of God"?
because he was the son of a man,and a woman, was later after holy spirit came to him that he was then called son of god.
 Quoting: Mi'Kmaq

Wrong. He was born from the Spirit, from the beginning of his life.

so, technically jesus is born of a women that got raped by an entity!

Ever wondered why criminals had it easy for all that time?

because God is a war criminal and support only his kind.

raped? no.
she was approached by the angel, Gabriel.
the plan was explained.
she was honored above all women (for her humble nature and willingness to do God's will)

there was no rape.

God is not a war criminal.
But, man, well....that's another story.

mankind is savage and fallen.

who is god to judge humanity? Why can't we judge god?

what about the law that you shall not judge others!
But god reserve himself the previlege to do so.

that is the outright behaviour of a tyranical leader!

Based on what the bible has to offer!

Anyone can write a good science fiction book! Some are not necerly better then others! but some book become prophecies when people put too much beleif in the fairytale!

If god cared enough to write a bible about how to think and live. he would live among us and teach us all how to think and live. He would not let wars go as they go!

Unless god is just the figment of people imagination!

not saying it's a bad thing. Just that When you know more about a non-material being rather then you know yourself. You end up guilible and not knowing what your desires are and who you are!

It's ok to fallow god. But i highly suggest you know yourself inside out before going that path.
To live is to believe in the power of dreams! To dream is to believe in the power of love! To love is to Know the truth!
The Desire to Be fuel the belief that you Are which ignite the Will to Become which bring back forth the desire to be...
Let it be-come you! It means Stop seeking your higher self! It is seeking you! Stand still in your mind to calm the waters of your mind and then it shall find you, so you can ride those waves together!
your true self lies somewhere between your heart and your consciousness. It is called the heart consciousness, which is the creator, which is you!
The heart create the emotions and our mind evoke its purpose, from which we dream the life we live in order to imagine the nature of reality and finally remember love!

The highest Purpose of our mind is the ability to Forget! Go on and Forgive yourself!
There is no love in truth but there is truth in love!
Be authentic, nobody else can do it for you!

fallow God? hmmm...

mankind is a creation. we are not the creator.
mankind is not above his Creator.
scripture is historically, archaeologically sound. it is not science fiction (as much as you hope it to be)
God does live among us. He is a living God, omnipresent, and does teach us how to think and live. He offers it, you have the choice to accept it or not.

material things are not where God lives.
material things are temporary. don't put your faith in such meager elements.

man is not the center of the universe.
learn to humble yourself, then you will understand how important you really are.

Is the concept of connecting to Creator on your own too much to perceive?

But I digress. Continue your path of learning what man tells you to learn.

You are a typical indoctrinated religitard Salt, ignoring the most basic and simple concept of oneness; never able follow the spirit Creator put inside you, always being told what to think, what to believe, and what verses to spew.

Sad ............ damn well sad.

Re: Why does Jesus refer to Himself as the "son of man" and not the "son of God"?
it doesn't matter how many "scriptures" one posts, they are all mistranslated if not seen from first person spirit view...why do you think its written> the spirit brings all former things back to remembrance..< get a clue sheeple/beasts whom see flesh instead of spirit within...stop following the flesh and follow the spirit...jesus the christ is translated to> the flesh/jesus which contains the christ/spirit...the word christ means spirit...the spirit we all have> a house divided cannot stand...keep tripping over the concept stumbling blocks if your arks wish because you cannot stand without following the spirit within...
How unfortunate for some rulers when men, women, and children continue to think... Keep repeating the lies loud enough and long enough and just maybe the people will start to believe the lies again and good luck with that...finding your energy open until mars becomes raging aries...
