Most Fed checks (Social Security, SSDI, and SSD) will go out automatically unless someone tells them to stop. The orders are transmitted on or about the last Thursday of the month to the various regional banking centers where it then causes the deposits to go into your account.

There is back-up. The banks have orders to "re-run" last months checks again if they for any reason do not receive their usual tape or electronic verification. So worst case the checks would be processed but you records might who you got TWO checks for October vs October and November. Dollar amount wouldn't change. But the back-up check would be dated for the previous month (again)

Who cares about dates. The auto-deposits all spend and all too fast today!
