tattoos that were forbidden in the bible were specific marks that represented being part of a cult or pagan religion. it was these tattoos that were forbidden.

tattoos do not operate this way anymore. tattoos today are cosmetic and artistic. really, the only thing that could be considered sinful as a tattoo is that it operates from vanity, and some tattoos are blasphemous and satanic.

other than that, there is nothing forbidden about having a tattoo.

leviticus expressly forbade mrking the body, but that was part of the old covenant.

the new covenant will replace the old (for you Christians who think the new covenant has been issued yet, this is not true), for the new covenant expressly deals with MARKING your body for God. Jeremiah 31:34...I will WRITE my law on their hearts.

I myself have thought that there are alternative reasons behind tattoo's.
If I where to get one it would be extremely personal and I would perform the act myself.
