The thing about tattoos is that people now seem to think they're expressing their individuality by getting them. But, as I pointed out to an ex-girlfriend of mine, if everyone is expressing their individuality the same way (by getting ink forcibly injected under their skin), then aren't they just conforming to the new societal paradigm? Now a girl withOUT tattoos is the rebel, the individualist, because she's swimming against the powerful current of conformity. I respect a girl without tattoos far more than one with them for that reason. Besides, tattoos on a beautiful girl almost invariably detract from her beauty. The tattoo obsession is a huge step backward for femininity and grace. A shame, that.

No, not everyone is expressing it that way.

I think it's a good 33% of the American population overall is tatted - some of those tats come from previous war veterans (way back to WWII) met one the other night.

You know back in the early 1900s tats were quite popular and I can't remember the stats, but it was a surprising high number.
