Hurricane Sandy~Frankenstorm could bring Frankenwaves to the Great Lakes!

Hi tiger1,

We were planning on taking a trip to the west coast today, but I think tomorrow might be better--the wave heights are expected to be greater. It's up to my son, he will be the one taking the pictures and he's at work right now. I'll know more later.

Either way, be careful and bundle up.

I will wait until tomorrow, as the wave height will be the biggest, if the predictions are correct, IF they do not close the access roads leading to the beachfront park.

i wasn't too worried about this storm, being in Ohio, but all morning long, the squirrels around here have been chewing down the tall grass and taking it to their homes. I think they know something i don't. One little guy is on his 7th trip....
think i will start filling up some water containers.... you never know....

I'm in Dayton, Ohio and it is already snowing a little bit east of me, in Wilmington. Wind gusts are strong but not terrible yet.

33 foot waves in Michigan? What the hell? That scares the hell out of me!!!! You guys all be safe!!!!

Prayers go out to everyone on the east coast! Those poor people are going to be lucky to get away with their lives...all they own is going to be destroyed. :-(

I have a bad feeling that this is going to be worse than anybody predicted and I remember us all talking about it here first, before MSM even considered it happening! Sheesh, I love you guys!

Oh, I believe, along with many others, that animals CAN sense natural disasters on the way.

They will display strange and erratic behavior when something is coming their way.

Having extra water on hand is always a smart choice, and I haven't been making any of those smart choices myself, lately.

Been too busy. But I will have to start adding to my water supply, too.

dont worry, the USCG station at st. ignace mich (think macinaw bridge)has a 47' MLB (motor life boat) it is self righting and self bailing. it can go into any size surf and roll over and come back for more.

I just keep thinking...we haven't heard much of anything about that sinkhole since Frankenstorm has entered our minds...

What if? You know...what if something happens down there in Louisiana and up in Michigan at the same time? Holy shit!!!!

the vortex you see is entirely new. It only formed very tiny some hours ago, and grow as iwas typing up the poem above here about Sandy, Vortex and Coldfront. THIS IS A WHOLE NUTHER STORM ! ! !

The storm, as of now, no longer looks like this latest picture.

Here's the latest hazardous weather outlook for the Toledo area and the South coast of Lake Erie. It isn't good. The NW area of Ohio used to be called the Black Swamp. The flooding will be bad if that kind of water comes in.

All of our family lives up there, very near to the lake. They wouldn't listen.

Niagara Falls Canada here, this region is suppose to get the worst of it, as far as Canadian weather has been predicted.

All you fellow preppers are probably not to concerned. Be prepared to be without power for 2 to 10 days depending on the severity??

Sandy strengthening before landfall.

Barometer down to 937 millibars (record low for any year ever in the Northeast)

Winds are up to 85-90 knots out 175 miles from the center (center is 12 hours from landfall but hurricane force winds will reach shore much earlier)

Storm surge has already hit "Irene" levels, and is expected to TRIPLE those levels based on the increased wind speeds, so New York Harbor and Long Island Sound are looking at potential/probable surge of 12-15 feet.

Most relaxing tune to the gales over the bridge....it would be a good idea not to have drove on in that gale wind blast.

Avoid driving in such things especially on bridges.

Wow! Watching that gave me motion sickness!

How is that even possible for the bridge to move so fluidly like that?

I'm assuming the people did make it to safety, right?

I know they were reporting possible snow storms, perhaps the squirrels were insulating their holes with the grass. Weatherchannel.com is taking forever to load; I guess lots of people are trying to watch the hurricane.
